I’ve been bad about updating my posts for the Gimp challenge, mostly because I’d rather work on my pictures than post them online. So… here’s day three! 7 Day Gimp Challenge- Day 1
Back in January, I tired to do a 30 Day Art Challenge. I ended up stopping it because I had too much going on in my life to continue it. Now, it’s August, and I decided to try again. This time, for Gimp. I usually paint pictures using Gimp for a variety of reasons, mostly because I’m not a professional artist and I don’t make money off my paintings. Shinny Kaylee Painting
Lately, I’ve been trying to draw/paint pictures of people and/or characters that aren’t from Doctor Who. I’ve watched Firefly a while ago, but I still love Kaylee and I can relate to her more times than not. I also love the dress she wears in the episode “Shindig”. Madame de Pompadour Painting
Recently my page view counter on deviantART has reached 5,000 so I decided to do something special to celebrate the 5,000th view. There is a painting I did a while back in Gimp of Madame de Pompadour from the Doctor Who episode Girl in the Fireplace that I never really finished. It was the first painting I ever did using my Wacom bamboo tablet so I was unsure how the response would be once I posted it online. The response was positive so I decided that the plain painting would one day receive an art nouveau-style background.

Sitting Fairy Sketch
A few days ago I was trying to get out of an artist’s block when it came to drawing. After failing several times, I ended up drawing a picture of a fairy. 30 Day Art Challenge- Days 1 and 2
On January 1st, I decided to do a 30 day art challenge to improve my drawing skills. I’m planning on focusing my efforts on drawing digitally in Gimp with my Bamboo Wacom tablet because I’m not as experienced nor am I comfortable drawing digitally. I’m more comfortable drawing with paper and pencil so the goal of the 30 days is to get used to just get really used to drawing digitally. I don’t plan on making a lot of masterpieces during this challenge, in fact I’d be very surprised if I draw more than one picture that I’m proud of, so my expectations of my drawings is pretty low.
