Procreate Decorative Border Practice Sketches
Hi everyone! After a long time of practicing and sketching, I finally feel ready to share some of my sketches I made on Procreate!
I’ve been working on sketching on Procreate for many months. I used to really enjoy using Procreate, but I forgot most of the settings I used to use and how to activate them. This is the main reason why I decided to take my time using Procreate. It wasn’t a time when I needed to become accustom to using Procreate. It was a time when I needed to relearn how to use Procreate at its fullest!
Now, I feel confident to start posting some of the art I created. Most of the art I don’t want to post online (I was just sketching and practicing) but there are a few sketches I don’t mind posting.
One of the sketches I don’t mind posting is my decorative border practice sketches. I want to create my own borders to use as clipart for my other blog The Estella Initiative. I like to use decorative borders on some of the stock photographs I use for posts. For some of the photographs, it adds a bit of pizzazz to the picture and makes it look different. For years I’ve been using borders that came as stock from my Photoshop Elements program. Now, I think I need to create my own one of a kind borders. Thus why I began to sketch some ideas out.
This is what the borders look like…

I like the way they turned out. I’m not sure if it is what I’m actually looking to use for my blog, but it does give me ideas. It also reminds me of tiaras and Victorian houses.
For the sketches, I used Procreate’s Symmetry Guide. I wanted to use it for fabric designs I used to make for Spoonflower, but I didn’t have an iPad I could use at that time. Now that I have used it again, I am so glad to have it back! I don’t like to use it every time I sketch, but for sketches like these borders, I really enjoy using it!
The borders are actually supposed to be for the corners of the picture. Since they were sketches, I didn’t bother to make them at a 90 degree angle for use on pictures. If I do decide to use them in the future, I plan on editing them in Procreate to make them actually 90 degrees.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
