Tiffany & Co Gift Box Inspired Wall Art- Base Painting

Hi everyone! Today, I will be continuing my post series about how I made a Tiffany & Co gift box inspired wall art. I already talk about why I wanted to make this and my sketch in a previous post here.

For this post, I wanted to focus on the base painting of the box. The painting wasn’t difficult, but I do have a few regrets about how I went about painting the canvas.

This is what the base painting looked like after I finished…

The paint I used was white and cornflower blue acrylic craft paints. I don’t own paint for canvas art, so I just used what I had available in my home. The black is a Posca paint pen.

It looks fine and turned out fine in the end, but I do wish I changed the way the bow ends look like. I wanted to keep them even, but I was lazy and didn’t fix them in the sketch stage. I also hated the way the paint pen worked on the canvas. It smudged more than my other paints, but it was either a Posca paint pen or a Sharpe marker.

I also decided to not use the metallic acrylic paint I purchased to use on this canvas. After painting the canvas, I decided to allow the cornflower blue color act as the base color for the glitter. I think if I didn’t use glitter on the canvas, I would use the metallic paint.
