Bioshock Infinite Poster Sketch
I cannot believe how busy my life has been these past few months. I’d love to say its because I’m working on art commissions and selling stuff I’ve sewn, but I’m not. Its just life stuff. Since I’ve been so busy, things I’ve been working on had to be pushed aside. One of those things was a poster I began to draw of Bioshock Infinite.
The poster was my attempt to draw a Drew Struzan inspired fan art poster. Drew Struzan was one of my favorite artist growing up and I have fond memories of taking out the VHS tapes of Back to the Future, Indiana Jones, Adventures in Babysitting, Masters of the Universe, ect. and staring at the covers. They had the movie poster on the front, and I loved studying them and I always hoped one day I’d be able to draw half as good as he can. I’m not sure if I’ve reached my goal, but after building myself up, I decided to try to draw a Bioshock Infinite poster that was inspired by Drew Struzan’s posters.
So far I was only able to sketch what I want it to look like…
Even though its still a sketch, I’m pleased with how it turned out. After sitting around for months I still know who or what I was drawing. This is a vast improvement over the last time I did this. Then again, I was 8 years old the last time I tried to make a Drew Struzan inspired poster so I really shouldn’t be so hard on myself. XD
Like I said before, this drawing has sat around for months. The reason is because I’ve been having computer problems. My computer still works and allows me to paint on it, but its old and like all old things, it wants to work slowly. This drawing was done on a 18 by 24 inch piece of paper. I scanning it isn’t bad (I have ways to get around the size) but to fix the drawing and then color it would make my computer freeze. In addition to this, I would like to use Photoshop to color this drawing. I’ve been using Gimp for years, but I’ve had problems with it and finding tutorials. Photoshop is not perfect, but it seems to be the program that has everything I want in a digital paint program. Since my computer is old, I need to get a new computer before I can install and use Photoshop.
All the plans I had for buying a new computer were pushed away by, you guessed it, life stuff. I don’t have the time right now to look for a new computer. I was able to decide which version of Photoshop I want, but I don’t have the time right now to actually buy the program. I want to hold back on buying the program before the computer so I can by a program that is compatible with the operating system, but I think I’ll buy the program first anyway.
To make a long story short, I cannot finish my Bioshock Infinite poster until get the computer and software I need. Until then the poster remains just a sketch.
I feel bad about not making a post about this drawing and making it optomistic, but this is whats happening in my life right now. All of these pessimistic computer problems do not take away the fact that I’m extremely pleased with how this poster turned out. It’s not going to pass as a Drew Struzan poster, but that’s ok! Its my drawing in my drawing style and that’s what I wanted it to look like. 😀
That’s all for now… until I finish this drawing. Haha!
P.S. I do plan on talking about the details of my poster after I finish it. That does mean I’ll have to make a post about it in the future. 😀
