• Thoughts on Buying an iPad for Art Purposes

Hi everyone! For quite some time, I wanted to talk online about my thoughts on art and other art related topics. I always decided against it due to three main reasons: My desire to do more research, lack of confidence in knowledge in the area I want to talk about, and I just didn’t want to talk about art at that time. Now that things are calming down in my offline life (At least, that’s what it seems like), I wanted to write a few posts about my thoughts on certain artistic topics. In this post, I want to talk about my options about buying an iPad. I wanted to…

  • A Rant About My Computer’s Drawing Tablet- Part 2

In my last rant post about my computer’s drawing tablet, I talked about my struggles with my old Wacom Bamboo tablet, why I cannot use it anymore, and trying to find a new version of my tablet. After discovering Wacom does not make the Bamboo line of tablets anymore (It’s now a line of smart pens), I started to search for a Wacom brand replacement. After searching Wacom’s website, I found a few tablets that fit my requirements and necessities for a drawing tablet. The first one is the Wacom Intuos line and the second is One by Wacom. I like both tablet, or pen tablets as it’s called on…

  • A Rant About My Computer’s Drawing Tablet- Part 1

Last month, while trying to get my new-ish computer ready to start working on my Inktober drawings, I tried to used my Wacom Bamboo drawing tablet. I was very excited to start using it again… until I plugged it in and realized it didn’t work. I thought it would be a simple fix by using the programing disk to install the software onto my computer… and then I discovered the operating system my computer runs on is not compatible with the tablet’s software or with the tablet at all. It’s been a few weeks since that happened and I can honestly say I’m still upset about what happened. Since I…

  • Gold Fish Speed Painting

Recently, while I was painting a picture in Photoshop, I realized I still have yet to master shading in Photoshop. I knew how to work the shading in Gimp, but Photoshop is a different program and is far closer to painting in real life than the version of Gimp was. Before I continued with my painting, I decided to set it aside and make a painting (Or more) to practice shading and blending in Photoshop. While trying to think of ideas of what to paint, I thought of a gold fish with abnormally large fins and tail. I wanted something simple to draw (The fish) but something more complex to…

  • Clara Oswald Painting

A few months ago I went through some of my old Doctor Who fan art when I realized I didn’t have a Clara Oswald fan art! Sure, I made fabric designs for her clothes, but I didn’t paint Jean Coleman as Clara Oswald. Back in June I began to work on the painting, but after computer problems, distractions, and outright forgetting about the painting left the painting unfinished until yesterday. Here’s what it looks like… This painting was done as an experiment for different tools, shading, ect. for my digital paintings. I already knew how to use the shading and such with traditional art, but I don’t think I’m very…

  • Lightning Returns Contest Entry

A week ago I found out about the Lightning Returns contest on DeviantART. I went back and forth about entering it, mostly because I didn’t think I’d be able to hold my own in the contest. After the encouragement of my family and friends, I decided to enter the contest even if I don’t end up winning. Here’s what my entry looks like… You can see it on DeviantART here. Due to the contest rules, I’m not allowed to sell prints of the art anywhere, but I wasn’t going to sell it anyway. (I’m paranoid about fan art legal issues so I decided not to sell any fan art sans…

  • Steampunk Irene

I’ve been having a lot of computer problems recently. Although I’ve been having computer problems, it didn’t prevent me from drawing or painting. I had an idea recently to do a series of drawings of women with Gibbson Girl hair, only with steampunk elements. I’ve had problems with what I consider “steampunk”, mostly with color combinations, so I was hesitant about posting any of my steampunk drawings and paintings. Still, I like this painting and how it turned out so I’m posting it. 🙂 While working on the first painting, I was watching season 3 of Sherlock so I got the idea to make the woman in the drawing look…

  • Blown Away Painting

If you’ve visited any of the pages here on my blog recently, you’d see a painting of a blonde haired woman every so often in the header. It’s a new painting I did, called Blown Away. I’ve been meaning to make a post about it, but I got busy with other things. Anyway, here’s the finished, uncropped painting…   You can see the painting on DeviantART here. That’s all for now!

  • Princess Horse Painting

To make a long story short, I need a new computer. My old one works fine, but it’s old and I think it’s about time I got a newer computer with a larger memory. Since I’m computer searching, I thought I’d better look at possibly getting a new digital painting program. The plan is to still use Gimp, but also learn, and use, the new program in preparation of possibly getting an art job somewhere. I can be pessimistic about my art abilities so I don’t want to spend my money on a paint program I cannot use because “I’m just not that good.” In order to convenience myself that…

  • Undeniable Arcade Sona Painting

A few weeks ago, before I began to paint K-9 over and over again, I started to work on a painting of Arcade Sona from League of Legends. I don’t make it a huge secret that I’m not a gamer, but I do pay attention to video games because of the art, the characters, the animation, ect. I’ve been seeing a lot of League of Legends cosplayers lately so I needed to learn more about the game. I found Sona, and loved her costume, her hair, and even her musical interment. (I was studying to become a music teacher years ago but I never finished my studies. I still have…
