Inktober 2017- Week 1 Drawings
Hi everyone! It’s October, which means it’s time for Inktober! And that means I need to draw a new ink drawing every day of the month of October. Last year was the first time I participated in Inktober, but I had to stop drawing and posting around mid month. It is my goal this year to make it to the end of the month.
Even though I have art ink pens I could use to draw with, I decided not to use them the first week of Inktober and use a ball point pen and, later in the week, a black gel pen to make it easy on myself. I’m not sure if I’ll end up using the art ink pens in the coming weeks, but after seeing other artists’ drawings using their art ink pens, I want to try it!
I post my Inktober drawings on my Instagram first, but I also post the drawings on my Facebook page and Tumblr under #inktober2017. So, if you’d like to see what my new Inktober drawings look like before I post them here on my blog, please look at my social networking sites!
Ok! Now, onto the drawings!
Day one’s drawing was of a rocking chair that is on my porch…
After finishing the drawing, I thought it kind of looked like a wheelchair. But then again the chair is made using huge wheels as the rockers, so it makes sense that I could see a wheelchair.
Day two’s drawing was of a woman with long hair…
I originally wanted to draw something else, but I didn’t have time.
Day three’s drawing is of a model wearing Christian Dior’s Junon dress…
Even when I posted this drawing, I was vocal about how I did not like how I drew the model. It wasn’t the model’s pose that I hated, it was her face and the bla way I drew her hair. I really did focus more effort on the dress instead of the model, and now I regret not paying more attention to the model’s face and hair.
Day four’s drawing is of another Dior dress…
This drawing is based off pictures of model Stella Tennant modeling dresses by John Galliano for Christian Dior.
Day five’s drawing is of a dress from Dior’s 2012 Spring show…
The Spring/Summer 2012 show has fashions with a vintage influence, but with a modern twist. I don’t remember which look number this outfit is (And I’m too lazy to look it up) but this is one of my favorites from the 2012 show.
Day six’s drawing is a mixture of three different Dior fashions…
When I started to work on the pencil sketch, I had trouble deciding which dress I should draw. So, I combined three into one. I don’t know if the look of the dress would look good for a Dior fashion show, but it works for an Inktober sketch!
And, finally, day seven’s drawing is from Dior’s 2011 Spring Summer show…
The 2011 Spring Summer show is one of my favorite runway shows because of the vintage inspired looks with soft, watercolor like colors. Because of this, it’s hard to draw anything from the show using a gel pen and ballpoint pen. Since I knew I’d have trouble drawing anything from the show, I decided to make a simplified version of the dress for my sketch. Overall, I’m happy with the way this drawing turned out.
Well, that’s it my Inktober week 1 drawings! I plan on continuing my Inktober drawings this week, but I’m not sure if I’ll make it a themed week. We’ll see what strikes my drawing fancy! I do know I would like to take a break from drawing Dior fashions. There are other outfits and dresses I could draw, but I think I need to draw something else for a while.
Thank you for reading!
