Pop Culture Conventions and My Wanderlust for Travel
Hi everyone! This year, many people will have the freedom and ability to travel without restrictions. This will be the first time since the start of the pandemic that travel will be similar to what people knew before the pandemic. Even though I can travel freely again, I considered where I could go. I have things I want to do with my money more than go on a luxury vacation, so I wanted to do something more modest. That’s when I began to think about things I used to do when I was younger. One of those places I used to go is pop culture conventions. The thing is after…

Saboten Con 2011
Recently, I’ve been going through all my photos on Flickr and began the slow process of uploading versions of the photos with my website’s watermark. While going through them, I realized some of the photos I took were not mentioned here on my website’s blog. Because of this, I decided to make posts featuring the photos I took! Most of this post will be photos with some writing, but I hope you enjoy it anyway. All the photos in this post are linked to the Flickr page with the photo. Saboten Con 2011, held at the Hilton Squaw Peak Resort, was the last Saboten Con I attended. This was due…

Phoenix Comicon 2014
Well, I think I’ve delayed long enough writing about what I did at the Phoenix Comicon this year. I didn’t mean to delay this post as long as I did, but my life became very busy since I came home from the convention… and life comes before blog posts. This year I decided to stay in a hotel, which was a very wise idea. I liked going to a hotel if I got tired of the convention or I wanted to drop something off. Usually I drive to the convention so it was a wonderful change and something I want to do in the future. Contrary to my original intentions,…

2014 Phoenix Comicon Sketches
It’s been over a week since the Phoenix Comicon ended and while I’ve been updating my other sites about my adventures there, I’ve neglected this site. This is mostly because I don’t know what exactly to say about my trip in a formal, nice blog post. In order to keep the Phoenix Comicon excitement alive, I decided to talk about the sketches I did while at the convention. Originally I was going to include these sketches in my Sketch Book Saturday series, but I gave up on that idea and made a special post for them alone. 🙂 Before I left for the convention, I wisely decided to bring a…

Off to the 2014 Phoenix Comicon!
Hi everyone! I’m off to the Phoenix Comicon for a weekend full of geeky fun, which means no Sketch Book Saturday for this week! I’ve been a little too busy getting ready for the convention to make a post. I’ll start it back up next week. Like I have the past two years, I’ll take plenty of photos and post some of my favorites here in a convention post. I don’t know how much into detail I’ll go when it comes to typing “I did this at the convention. Then I did that at the convention.” in the convention post. Lately I’ve been feeling a little reluctant to talk about…

See U- Taiyou Con’s 2014 Art Badge Entry
To make a long story short, I entered Taiyou Con’s 2014 art badge contest. Taiyou Con is an anime convention that I never attended before this yeat, but I know others who did and enjoyed it. Like I did with my Saboten Con entry, I painted a Vocaloid to paint. This time, it was SeeU… As usual, I lost. I won’t go into the details of how I found out I lost, what I thought of the convention when I attended, ect. because if I did, this post would turn into a rant VERY quickly. Since this post was meant to talk about my SeeU painting and say that I…

Happy Miku- Saboten 2013 Art Badge Entry
My life has become very busy at this time so I was unable to make a blog post about another art badge contest I entered until the voting time ended. I’ll still talk about it anyway… Saboten Con is a convention I’ve been attending on and off since 2009. In fact, Saboten Con 2009 was my very first convention and was where I cosplayed for first time. Even though the convention is special to me, I haven’t been able to attend it as much as I’d like to. After entering Phoenix Comicon’s art badge contest earlier this year, I thought it would be worth a try to enter Saboten’s as…

Phoenix Comicon 2013
This is a little late (By two weeks), but here’s my convention report for the Phoenix Comicon. I attended the Phoenix Comicon this year and, unfortunately, I did not have much fun. It wasn’t because the convention wasn’t fun or the staff wasn’t helpful (They were super helpful!), it’s because I got sick earlier in the week of the convention. Due to my health problems I was only able to attend for one day, Friday, and only for a few hours. It was ok, but I’m sure if I was feeling better I’d have some more fun. It also didn’t help that I went… alone. It was spooky for me,…

K-9 Drawing and PCC 2013 Badge Submission
I thought I talked about the drawing I did of K-9 and how I entered it into the Phoenix Comicon 2013 art badge contest on here, but I didn’t! Oops! About a year (maybe more?) ago, I made a digital painting/drawing of K-9 from Doctor Who. It was hard to paint because I couldn’t find a 100% side view photograph of K-9. I ended up fusing many photos and created the painting based off those photos. Here’s what he looks like without a background….. Clicking on the painting will take you to the deviantART submission This year, I decided to enter the Phoenix Comicon’s art badge contest. I entered two…

Phoenix Comicon 2012 Photos Part 1
I decided not to make a convention report for the Phoenix Comicon this year. Instead I’m going to post photos I took from the convention in this post and eventually put my favorites into the photography section. I’ll add captions to the photos if the photos need them. Because I have so many photos, I’ll post them in at least two parts. Maybe three or four at the most. Here’s part one….
