    October 31, 2024 /

Hi everyone! Halloween is this week and, if you are a long-time reader of this blog, then you know I used to make costumes and go to conventions. For many years, I decided to not bother making costumes or go to conventions like I once did. I just needed to focus on other things and I didn’t feel motivated nor inspired to make costumes like I once had been. Also, the convention scene changed so much I didn’t want to go anymore. Especially in costume! Despite this, I wanted to dabble in costume making again for years. The problem is I didn’t know what I wanted to make or work…

  • Fall 2023 Sewing Plans

    July 7, 2023 /

Hi everyone! It may be summer right now, but I need to focus on my plans for creating a fall wardrobe! My body and lifestyle has changed since last year, so I want to own and wear different clothes. I want to have these clothes ready for when the fall comes. That way I won’t worry about finding clothes when the temperatures change! After looking through what is available for purchase right now (Which is, obviously, not much) I decided to try to make myself some clothes. I have a bucket list of fall and winter clothes I want to sew and wear but never have. I’m planning on taking…

  • 2023 Arizona Renaissance Festival- Plans for Attending and No Costume Plans

    February 3, 2023 /

Hi everyone! This weekend will be the first weekend the Arizona Renaissance Festival will be open. It is usually open for two months, so there are plenty of opportunities to attend. For many years, I would attend at least one day per year. This year, I don’t know if I will attend. Also, if I do go, I don’t plan on dressing up. There are more than one reasons why I decided on potentially not going or if I do, I won’t wear a costume. The main one is that there are many things going on in the area where I live in February and potentially March. I don’t know…

    February 15, 2022 /

A few years ago, after I decided to make Belle’s dress from the live action version of Beauty and the Beast, I decided to buy all the things I needed to make the dress. The major supply I needed to buy is the fabric to make the dress.

  • Making Belle’s Beauty and the Beast Live Action Movie Yellow Ballgown Part 1: The Pattern & How I’m Adding Sleeves

    February 8, 2022 /

In a previous post, I talked about making Belle’s yellow ballgown from the live action version of Beauty and the Beat. When I saw the dress, I, like a lot of people, didn’t like it. To me, it looked more prom dress that was inspired by Belle’s ballgown than Belle’s actual ballgown. It didn’t fit it very well with the other character’s costumes and the time period those costumes are inspired by. Despite this, the dress began to really grow on me. In fact, it grew on me so much, I purchased a Simplicity sewing pattern of the dress and fabric to make myself one. Even though I felt very…

  • Future Sewing Projects: January 2022

    January 19, 2022 /

Hi everyone! I’ve been going through my fabric stash to see what I would like to work on and when I want to work on it. One of my sewing goals for the year is to put more effort into using my fabric stash instead of buying new fabric. I will buy new fabric only when I need to, but ideally my projects will need to include some of my fabric from my fabric stash. I’m not sure how well this will work out, but I’m optimistic I can work on all the sewing projects I wanted to for many years but couldn’t. So far I’ve found fabric for many…

  • 5 Costumes I Would Like to Make in 2021

    August 9, 2021 /

It’s almost the end of July, but I would like to make something to wear for Halloween. I like to plan and make Halloween costumes early because my work load can be inconsistent, so there is always a chance I cannot work on a costume in October. For many years I had to scrap my Halloween sewing plans for a variety of reasons, mostly work or health related, but I wanted to change that for 2021. This year, I narrowed down my list of to-make costumes to five. (Actually, it’s five and two maybes. While writing this post I remembered there are two “costumes” that I wanted to make, but…

  • Takane Shijou’s Thank You Dress from Idolm@ster

    May 17, 2021 /

A Note Before Reading this Post… I wrote this post in April 2015, but never posted it because I wanted to make a few changes to the costume. In 2015, I did not go to Phoenix Comicon (Now known as Phoenix Fan Fusion) like I planned. I recently rediscovered this post saved and ready to be posted. Currently, I’m looking through my old costumes to see if there is anything I don’t fit into and would I would like to remake. The Takane Shijou Thank You Dress from Idolm@ster is one of those dresses. Before I begin to seriously look into remaking the dress, I wanted to publish this post…

  • Florence, Arizona Home Tour- February 2018- Part 23

    December 23, 2020 /

Well, today’s post is the last photographs I took while on the Florence Home Tour in Florence, Arizona. Although I wanted to take photographs of more exhibits in the Pinal County Historical Museum, it was difficult because the time I looked at the museum coincidence with a lecture that would take place in the same room as I wanted to take photographs of. So, I took photographs of one last exhibit. The exhibit I focused on is of Victorian clothing and a coach. Although I’ve seen this exhibit plenty of times, I decided to focus on taking photographs of the clothing. There is a woman’s costume and a man’s tuxedo…

    December 22, 2020 /

Walking around the Pinal County Historical Museum, I found many things on display I either never saw before or haven’t seen in years. The museum has some very interesting things on display, and some not so nice things. Although this museum is known for their display of items from the Arizona State Prison that some, including myself, may find upsetting, I decided to focus on everything but those exhibits. I tried to photograph many of the exhibits, I decided to post most of the photographs of the historical clothing and accessories.
