Costumes I Want to Remake- Spring 2018
Hi everyone! I’m slowly finishing all the sewing projects I want to write posts about, so as a sewing post filler, I decided to talk about which costumes I made in the past and want to remake in the future. Even though I want to remake every costume on this list, I will not work on them for at least the next two or more months. There is a lot of changes going on in my life right now which makes it harder for me to sew as much as I’d like to. (This is also the reason why I don’t talk about sewing as much as I want to.…

Snow White’s Mirror Mirror Dress~ Part 4
Well, this is the final post I have to make about this costume! (Took me long enough!) I’ll make links all the posts to a page dedicated to the progress in making this dress in the costume page. (I haven’t done it yet. Still working on organizing the page.) Well, after completing the skirt and the bodice, I needed to attach the sleeves to the bodice. The first sleeves I attached to the bodice was the blue sleeves. Here’s what they looked like pinned and waiting to be sewn onto the bodice… Before I began to work on the orange sleeves, I had to sew the trim to the top…

Snow White’s Mirror Mirror Dress~ Part 3
Well, as you probably know by now, I had to stay home from the Phoenix Comicon because I felt sick. I was feeling very depressed about not going so I was trying to find something to get my mind off the Comicon. I had already started working on my Snow White, Mirror Mirror dress earlier in the week so I thought it would be the perfect thing to focus my thoughts on. I ended up making more progress on the whole entire costume than I ever had before. (See what happens when I miss a convention I was looking forward to for a year?!) Earlier in the week, I had…

Snow White’s Mirror Mirror Dress~ Part 2
I finished parts of the costume enough to make another post! I made the skirt of the costume before the bodice, but I decided to talk about the bodice before the skirt because how I made it is still fresh in my mind. Here’s what the bodice I made looks like without the lining and boning sewn in… The construction of the bodice is fairly straightforward. I used Simplicity’s #1728 for the bodice. I’ve already used this pattern to make another costume’s bodice so I knew how to work with it. I had lengthened the pattern because commercial patterns are generally shorter than my torso. Sometime it’s a little, sometimes…

Snow White’s Mirror Mirror Dress~ Part 1
Before attending the Phoenix Comicon, I felt sad because I didn’t have a pretty, princess dress to wear there. I loved Snow White’s dress from the movie Mirror Mirror and I always thought about making one for myself one day. I do hear online that Mirror Mirror isn’t the best movie based off Snow White’s story, but I thought it was ok. And the costumes were amazing. After staring at fabric and calculating how much money I had on me, I decided it was time to start to sew myself the dress for myself. This is the dress I’m talking about…
