Pink and Green Log Cabin Green Fabric Replacement
After going through my photographs of the Pink and Green Log Cabin quilt, I found old photographs of the green replacement fabric. The fabric was purchased as a replacement to the original olive green fabric I used in the blocks. While sewing the blocks, I ran out of the fabric and needed to purchase new fabric. I couldn’t find the original fabric anymore, so I looked for a replacement that would match the original fabric’s color and not look out of place on the quilt. I found a nearly perfect replacement fabric at Joann’s not long after my search began. I originally thought I either deleted the photographs of the…

Pink and Green Log Cabin Quilt Block Pattern Ideas
It’s been a while since I talked about my work on the Pink and Green Log Cabin Quilt, but to be honest, there hasn’t been much progress since my last post about the quilt. Even though I don’t have much to report about the quilt, I do have old photographs I took of the quilt as reference that I can use in posts! Since I’m still working on the quilt, I decided to talk about some of the old reference photographs as fill in topics to write posts about. Two of the photographs I want to talk about are of the placement and layout of the blocks. Since I used…

2022 Ocotillo Blossom Photographs- Part 3
After finding the first ocotillo, I continued my walk until I found another ocotillo in blossom. This ocotillo was not the only one I saw in bloom, but it was the only one I felt comfortable taking photographs of. (Too many new homes and other privacy concerns in the background) The sky was still pretty, so it made a beautiful background for the ocotillo.

Pink and Green Log Cabin Quilt Block Finished
In my last post about the pink and green quilt, I talked about the fabric I used for the quilt. I took the photographs of the fabric a few months ago. Since then, I finished all the blocks for the quilt! Here is what the finished blocks look like… I had some problems with the quantity of fabric I needed to make the quilt. I wanted to make a king size quilt, but I didn’t have enough olive green fabric for the last strip of the panel. I found some fabric in a different pattern at Joann’s that would work perfectly as a substitute for the original fabric. Even though…

2022 Ocotillo Blossom Photographs- Part 2
In my previous ocotillo blossom photography post, I mentioned I will be talking about a second ocotillo I took photographs of during a walk in April 2022. Originally, I planned to make that post part 2, but after looking at the photographs I took of the first ocotillo, I realized I had more photographs of the blossoms than I originally thought! So, here are the rest of the photographs of the blossoms from the first ocotillo I encountered during my walk. I will be talking about the second ocotillo in the next photography post.

Pink and Green Log Cabin Quilt Fabric Choices
A few months ago, I talked about my intention to make a log cabin quilt out of scrap strips of fabric. After doing some shopping, I decided on the strip color I wanted to use first and what other colors I want to make using it. The first color of scrap fabric I picked was this olive green dragon fly fabric… I decided to make the theme of the quilt pink and green. I thought of the idea after looking at an advertisement for the musical Wicked. In the musical, Elpheba’s skin is green and Glinda’s favorite color is pink. Because of this, advertisements for the musical include the…

2022 Ocotillo Blossom Photographs- Part 1
In late April, I went outside for a walk near my relative’s home. I saw an ocotillo was in full bloom, which made me happy to see. I love seeing them bloom. I wanted to take photographs of the desert for a while, but I never had the chance. Since the ocotillo looked so good, and the sky was very pretty, I decided to take a few photographs of it.

2022 Palo Verde Tree Blossoms
Last month, the palo verde trees around my relative’s property bloomed. I tried to take photographs of the trees in the past, but the blossom clusters wouldn’t photograph well. (It had to do with the camera I used and the focus on it) On the day I took these photographs, my camera did pick up the blossoms and made them appear clearly. I’m very happy about the way they turned out, so I decided to share them in a post.

What Happened to My Peach Tree Blossoms? Where They Went and Why I Won’t Be Taking Them Anymore
For many years, I wrote posts about peach tree blossoms. In those posts, I would always have plenty of photographs of the blossoms. According to this blog’s statistics and any social media platform I post the photographs on, they don’t perform well. I never understood why because the blossoms are a beautiful pink flower. So, instead of posting only what people want to see, I would post these photographs just because I enjoy taking them and remembering that year’s beautiful blossoms. This year, I won’t be taking photographs of the trees or posting any new photographs of these blossoms. So, why did I decide to no longer post photographs that…

2022 Mesquite Tree Blossoms
While on a walk around my relative’s property, I discovered the mesquite tree was in full bloom. Even though the mesquite trees do not have as “pretty” blossoms as the palo verde trees, I wanted to take photographs of the blossoms. I didn’t have my favorite camera with me at that time, so some of the photographs are not as clear as others I took in the past. Despite this, this I like the way some of the photographs turned out.
