Picking The Binding & Backing Fabric for the Fall Quilt

Since I’m getting closer to finishing the quilt, I wanted to pick out the fabric for the binding and backing. I knew I would need the backing before the binding, but I still wanted to pick out the binding. That way I wouldn’t need to worry about finding the right fabric for the binding when I need to work on the binding.The fabric I bought to pick from have wood designs on them. The first one is an off white/grey color…

While the second has more brown…

Here are what the fabrics look like with the top of the quilt…

I decided on the brown version. I liked the lighter colored one, but I think the brown version looks the best as a contrast to the lighter colors in the quilt. I plan on using the lighter version in another quilt.

As for the backing fabric, I had an easier time picking it…

I bought a three yard pre-cut pack of black cotton fabric from Walmart. It won’t be wide enough to fit the whole quilt, but I bought plenty of yardage to sew pieces together to make a large enough panel.
