An October 2026 Blog, Health, and General Life Update
Hi everyone! It has been a few weeks since I published a post on here. I’m afraid I’ve been busy with my real life to focus on blogging. Even though I haven’t been writing, I still have been thinking about blog post ideas and what I’d like to write.
As many of my readers may know, I have two blogs. This one is focused on my art and hobbies while the other one is a lifestyle blog. Normally it is easier to write posts for my lifestyle blog than this one. I need to create some sort of art to blog about before I can actually sit down and write a post. As for a lifestyle blog, I don’t need to worry about it. Yet, I let my lifestyle blog go quite as well.
My writer’s block for blogging started years ago, years before the lockdowns from Covid-19. Yet, I was somehow able to push through them. But now? I’m at a loss. My worst writer’s block yet started last year, but the more I pushed through it, the worse it became. Earlier this year, around March and April, it hit me harder than ever before. That’s when, with the help and advice of my friends, I decided to step back from blogging.
In that time, I decided to focus on everything that was happening in my life at that time. One of these things is a major improvement in my sensitive skin. I discovered if change of my body was may help my sensitive skin problems. Changing my body wash isn’t something new. I have changed my body washes many times since I was a teenager, trying to figure out which one will work, but the body wash recommended to me was different. It was one I steered clear from due to harsh chemicals that will irritate skin. Still, I was heavily encouraged to use it. Much to my surprise and awe, it worked. In fact, it worked so well that inflammation I was battling since I was a teenager began to go down!
Although I knew this body wash is helping me, it really upset me that, after so many years of these skin problems, I have such an easy, simple, and extremely effective answer. The fact I missed this got under my skin and impacted my thinking quite a bit. It was also during this time I realized I needed to take more time to rest. After suffering from inflammation for so many years, I was now able to move and do things with an ease I never had before… which caused me to overextend myself. I was in a lot of pain and felt miserable all the time, so I needed to rest quite a lot. Despite everything that was going on, the inflammation was still going down.
In order to give myself more time to rest, I decided to just focus on everything offline. I was still sewing, knitting, and drawing, but I didn’t move around as much as I thought I would. Even though I still had things to write posts about, I decided not to. I knew during this time I was not in a good head space to write posts. Or engage with social media like I once did. I decided to pull back on my social media presence and consumption in order to focus on offline life as much as possible.
Also, something else happened during this time: I began to remember how good it felt to create things without needing to post about them on social media. For the first time in years, I didn’t need to make everything perfect for social media. Instead, the stress of creating something to post online was no longer a pressure on me… and I like what I was able to create! I really do believe my work is much better now that I didn’t write update posts every other week. (Or whenever I decide to publish a post) Because of this, I’m seriously reconsidering what I blog about and how frequently I publish.
All the things I did during this quite time, including as resting, sitting, and relaxing, has been helpful to me. Now, I don’t know what to do with my blogs. For this blog, I don’t know what topics to talk about. Clearly, my hobbies are the main focus of this blog, so I want to talk about them. Yet, I still feel at a loss about what to write about while I focus on working on things offline. Things have changed so quickly these past few years I’m at a loss about what to talk about and how to approach it.
For an example, last year all JoAnn stores closed, the Big Four pattern companies were sold at bankruptcy, and Michael’s bought JoAnn and brought more fabric into their stores. This is why I’m at a loss about what to talk about. Everything happened so quickly. I knew last year that if I were to talk about the big news in the sewing world, I would need to focus on my opinion that what I’d rather talk about: What I am creating. I don’t want to turn this blog into a commentary blog, but there were points in time when I felt really tempted to do it. A little too tempted in my opinion. And some of my older posts reflected that mind set.
So, where am I going with my blog in the future? Well, I’m still going to talk about my hobbies and what I create. I don’t know how often I will be able to do that, but that is, and if I have things my way right now, the focus of this blog. Still, I feel like I need to create a type of filler post topics that will keep this blog alive and active during times I have to take time off publishing posts for any reason. I just don’t know what I will talk about in these filler posts. It is something I am actively thinking about and practicing writing posts about to see how I will like them.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
