A Few Sewing and Craft Things I’m Working on This Month- July 2024
Hi everyone! This year has been interesting. Every year has been interesting, but this year has included new experiences. One of those experiences is to work on my house. I finished painting my bathroom a few months ago and I’m still stunned it looks as good as it does. Even though painting my bathroom and other diy repairs around my house are not diy crafts, I’m feeling very proud of my work and progress on it!
Since I’ve been working on my house, I haven’t had time or energy to work on anything but the house. Even though it is halfway through the month, I decided to slow down on house repairs. I want to work on outdoor repairs next, but it is way too hot to work on them. Until the weather cools off, I decided to work on some sewing and craft things I have on my to-do list.
First, I’m knitting a sweater by hand. I knitted sweaters before, but this sweater is going to be made using a different pattern. Also, I decided to change the pattern. The first change is to not use wet blocking. This means I need to enlarge the pattern bigger than whatever the pattern calls for. So far things are going ok, but I did need to undo the body of the sweater. I did the math wrong and made it too small for me. Other than that it is coming together.
Second, I need to make myself some new clothes. It is the time of the year when I made myself new pj bottoms, so that is on the to-make list. I also decided to cut out all the pieces of a newer version of the Vogue Patterns V2004 with a larger bust and waist. I thought the size I used was ok, but it wasn’t. I’m still upset about it, but in order to offset how upset I feel I decided to just make myself a new dress with the changes I want it to have. In addition to the Vogue dress, I also want to make other dresses, shirts, skirts, and accessories. I need to work on a lot of clothes to use during the fall and winter, but I feel lukewarm about it. I wonder if it is because I am uninspired by what I want to make, insecurities about how I will look in the clothes, and/or I’m just more focused on the Vogue dress and the sweater.
The third and finally projects I’m working on are craft projects. (I don’t know what else to call all the things I’m working on except craft projects.) I have a Louis Vuitton inspired box I am trying to make, some garage kits I ordered off Etsy I want to paint, and a big letter M I want to hang on my wall. I wondered if I would like to talk about them online, but right now I’m still not sure. I’m doing these things for any other reason except for fun. Talking about them online will be something I want to do after I’m finished with them and feel ready to show them off to the world!
