New Fabric Designs- Crown and Tiaras

While on my blog break, I decided to work on new fabric designs for Spoonflower. I’m very happy with my progress because was able to finish most of the designs I started over a year ago. Although I have many new designs, I have so many didn’t want to make a whole entire post dedicated to them. So, I decided to post about them in different post. That way I won’t overwhelm anyone reading my posts!

This post is about my new crown and tiara fabric designs. In May, I released six tiara designs for sale. A few months ago, I received a request for a color variation for the tiara design. While working on the design request, I discovered I have about three other crown designs that I never finished coloring. Since I was working on the tiara design request, I decided to work on all the crown an tiara designs so I didn’t need to worry about them or forget them anymore.

The first design I worked on are the requested tiara designs. The request was to make a scaled version of the “Tiara” design, pink jewels in the tiara, and a pink and grey backgrounds.

They turned out very nicely and I decided to make a larger version of the pink jeweled grey background design.

And one with a white background…

In August, I received an email from Spoonflower that said Pink Tiara- Grey Background Full Size was on one of the featured lists. It turned out the list was on the Trending List. Although my designs were featured on Spoonflower lists, this was the first time I was ever on the trending list. It stayed there for about a month, and silly, scatterbrain me didn’t take screen captures of the design or the email so I can show what it looked like on the list. I’m still kicking myself for not saving a screen capture of it, but hey. I was on the list! 😀

You can see the designs on Spoonflower here…

After finishing the Pink Tiara designs, I went back into my files to see what other tiara themed designs I never finished. I found a few, and all of them are incomplete coloring versions. (Black line art on a white background, like a coloring book pictures) I still have yet to finish coloring most of the designs, mostly because I lost my momentum to color them after finishing the line art, but I still wanted to talk about the coloring versions because they are done!

I didn’t make many creative names for these tiara designs, so they are “Tiara” and then a number. Such as Tiara 3…

Tiara 4…

And Tiara 5 Version 1…

And finally, Tiara 5 version 2…

I also don’t know where design Tiara 1 is. I searched for it, but I couldn’t find it. I believe what I did was change the name of the base design I used for the Pink Tiara designs in this post. I don’t know where the coloring version of it went, but I’m sure it’s around somewhere. I just need to look for it.

Even though I was fairly clueless about what to name the designs, I decided to name my new crown design Crown 1, because I thought it would be nice to be consistent in my not so creative design names…

The original art I drew for the Crown 1 design had a pillow under the crown, but I erased it when I worked on the design. I’d like to add it back into the design when I sit down and color it the way I originally imagined it to be, but I have yet to do that.

Unlike the other Tiara designs, I did make a colored version of the design, but they are different than what I want it to look like. They are tone on tone pastel versions of the Crown design. I didn’t think they would look good, but I was surprised how much I liked them.

I’m not sure if I’d like to make the same tone on tone colored version of the tiara designs, but, as you will see in later posts, I colored other coloring book designs tone on tone. So, I’ll probably do the same with the tiara designs as well.

That’s it for the tiara and crown designs! I’m sure there will be other designs coming in the future, but for now I’m tired of the tiara and crown designs. I will be making a second coloring version of Tiara 5 that will match the look of the other tiara designs, but that’s not for sale yet.

Tiara, crown, and jewelry designs are usually some of the most complicated designs I create because they tend to be very intricate and I need to make at least six versions of each colored design with six different colored stones. (If the tiaras and crowns have stones, which, as of now, all of them do.) Although I sometimes enjoy working on the same thing over and over again, it can become boring after a while and I need a break. So, right now I’m on a tiara and crown coloring break until I finish my other unfinished designs. :/

Even though I’m artistically tired of making tiara and crown designs, I hope everyone enjoys the work I’ve done up till now and looks forward to me returning to making new designs in the future! (It will happen. As much as I’d like to say it won’t happen ever again, it will. It always will.)
