2014 Art Round Up

Following the previous post about my sewing and costumes, I decided to make a post about the art I did this year!

To be honest, I’m not happy with the amount of art I was able to make this year. Unlike the costumes and sewing projects, I wasn’t able to paint digitally as much as I wanted to because my seven year old computer decided it had it with my art and didn’t want to do it anymore. I still have my old computer and it still works, but I can’t use it for art. Instead I got a new computer for my art. That new computer took a while to get so time for digitally painting was lost.

This year I feel like I focused more on fabric designs than original or non fabric design art. I’m disappointed in this, but I think the computer problems were the cause of the problem. I did try to focus on learning how to work with invisible backgrounds, layering, and more in Photoshop along with working with watercolors and generally improving the quality of my art. Although my art still has my own style to it, I still thought there was some room for improvement. A year later I can see a huge difference and I’m currently very pleased with the way I draw. That might change in the future and the way I draw might change in the future just because I’m getting older and better at drawing, but for now I’m happy.

Here are some of my favorite non fabric design art I did this year…

So that’s it for this year’s art round up! The only thing I want to do differently next year is to focus more on original art that will not become fabric designs. I’m tired of making fabric designs so I want to paint other things. I still have a few fabric designs I want to make, most were suggestions while one is a design I wanted to finish in June but never did, but other than that I’m worn out fabric design wise.

Next up, the last post in the 2014 round up series, photography!
