Fabric Spray Paint Test-Part 1
A few weeks ago, I talked about attempting ombre fabric dying for a costume I want to make. This week, I wanted to talk about something else I tried to create ombre colors on fabric before I tried ombre fabric dying: fabric spray paint. Back when I was afraid to try ombre dying, I thought that I could use watered down fabric paint to achieve the same affect. I tried this before with just one color and it turned out really nicely, so I thought I could do it with three colors. While looking at the fabric paint section at Hobby Lobby, I found that they had fabric paint in…

Adventures in Dying Fabric- Trying Ombre Dying
In 2014, I made a post documenting my first attempt to dye a jacket. Even though that attempt turned out well and I mentioned that I wanted to write more posts about fabric dying, I never did because I didn’t have a reason to dye fabric. Recently, I decided to make a costume that was on my to-make list for years. I never perused making this costume because I felt it was too advanced for my skill level for me to make at that time and I believed I wouldn’t look good in it. After some encouragement from a friend of mine, I decided to make it anyway. Even though…

Clara Oswald’s Robots of Sherwood Dress- Is it Red or Orange?
Recently I received a question about the color of the Clara Oswald’s Robots of Sherwood dress I made a few months ago. You can read more about the dress I made here. In the post, I referred to the color of the dress as “orange” but in the photos I took, the dress has more of a red color than orange. The difference in color made me wonder, what is a good way of describing the color? Is it really a red or an orange? After looking through the notes I made about the dress, it is not just a red or an orange, but a combination of both.

Adventures in Dying Fabric- Dying a Jacket
Sorry about not updating everyone on my current creative projects. I’ve been busy lately with my day job and the weather here in Arizona was… well… crazy with flooding and such. Fortunately I didn’t have flooding trouble, but it did cause me to be stuck at home, unable to leave the house. Since I had a lot of time, I just worked and worked and didn’t take the time to write posts about what I was working on. I was very productive, but still. I felt bad about ignoring my blog. Ugh. Anyway, on with the post… About a year ago I began to look into dying fabrics. I didn’t…

Adventures in Finding Duchess Satin
Its been a while since I made a post so I thought I’d talking about something I’ve been working on and off for about six months, finding Duchess satin for sale. Sure, it sounds boring, but I cannot believe how hard it is to find Duchess satin where I live! The reason why I’m interested in Duchess satin is because I recently had even more growth spurts. Apparently my body took a break for a few months before starting to grow again. This tricked me into believing that I was done growing when I really wasn’t. So, all the dresses I made for myself to wear as part of a…
