Wood DIY Countdown to Christmas- Working on the Chimney

Hi everyone! It’s getting closer to Christmas, which means to me that I need to finish publishing posts about my work on my wood DIY countdown to Christmas decoration. I had plans to publish at least one post per week leading up to Christmas, but that has changed. Unfortunately, one of my relatives will have out patent surgery the week before Christmas. Because of this, I decided to publish all the posts I have completed in my Countdown to Christmas DIY this week.

In this post, I will be talking about how I worked on the chimney on the house.

This is what the chimney looked like…

From the front, it looked really nice. I didn’t have a problem with the way it looks like.

The problem is what it looks like from the top…

There was a hole in the middle of the chimney. Normally I wouldn’t say this isn’t a problem, after all, where is all the smoke supposed to go? Yet, I had a problem with this chimney. I wanted it to be covered so I can dust it easier. Well, that’s what I was thinking at that time!

Instead of leaving it open, I decided to cover it with a piece of wood. This is what it looked like after I finished working on the chimney…

The piece of wood didn’t fit perfectly on the chimney, but I still liked how it turned out.

Even though I like how it will be easy to be dust it it was painted and clear coated, I decided to decorate the roofline with glitter. I have had a bad track record with home decor items with glitter on them gathering lots of dust and giving me problems while cleaning them. I had an idea on how to make the glitter easier to dust (Paint a layer of clear coat on the glitter to protect the glitter while allowing me to dust the glitter) so I’m not as afraid to add glitter on it. Also, decorating the roofline with glitter helps hide the imperfections on the roof, including how wonky the wood patch looks!

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
