12 Days of Christmas Sewing Progress: Sew Simple Handmade Holiday Table Runner Kit Part 3

Hi everyone! It’s been a while since I talked about the 12 Days of Christmas sewing! I’m disappointed I couldn’t work on or finish anything I started last year, but I’m hopeful I’ll be able to do this. In the meantime, I have another update for my holiday table runners I worked on as part of the 12 Days of Christmas Sewing projects last year.

After sewing the top of the table runner, I pinned the batting and backing to the top with safety pins. I used black cotton from Walmart as the backing fabric and used the fabric for both table runners. After that was done, I began to search for a binding fabric.

Since the fabric print is kind of busy, I decided to use a flat, non patterned fabric as the binding of both table runners. I also wanted to use different colors for each table runner because each runner has a different color scheme than the other. After trying different fabrics, I finally decided to use a white cotton as the binding for the plaid table runner…

And a red cotton fabric for the binding of the table runner with plaid trees…

I seriously considered using green cotton as the binder fabric, but I felt the green color would make the table runners look too much like Christmas. I know the table runners are meant to be used for Christmas, but I would like to use these table runners for a cabin/forest themed decor.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
