Some Thoughts on JoAnn Stores and Their Most Recent Bankruptcy Filing
Hi everyone! I don’t normally talk about stores or brands and their business dealings, but I feel like I need to talk about JoAnn’s most recent bankruptcy filing. In 2024, JoAnn filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. I used to mention the JoAnn store many times in my sewing posts, but I stopped because I started to not shop there for fabric or DIY supplies. There were several reasons for this, but one of them is because the closest store to where I live became to hard to me to travel to. Despite my slowing interest in shopping at JoAnn, I also didn’t like the fabric selection they had. The quality…

Wood DIY Countdown to Christmas- Rough Painting the House
Hi everyone! This post will be the last post in my series about how I made my wood DIY countdown to Christmas house. After I finished rough painting the house, I decided to change some things about it. Since I haven’t finished working on the changes, I decided to delay the finished post about what the house looks like completed for a while.

Wood DIY Countdown to Christmas- Working on the Chimney
Hi everyone! It’s getting closer to Christmas, which means to me that I need to finish publishing posts about my work on my wood DIY countdown to Christmas decoration. I had plans to publish at least one post per week leading up to Christmas, but that has changed. Unfortunately, one of my relatives will have out patent surgery the week before Christmas. Because of this, I decided to publish all the posts I have completed in my Countdown to Christmas DIY this week. In this post, I will be talking about how I worked on the chimney on the house.

How to Fix Loose Glitter on Christmas Decorations with With Nail Polish
Hi everyone! It’s the holiday season and you can see it everywhere, especially in decorations. If you are like me and love glitter on Christmas decorations, you probably know how hard it is to clean up loose glitter from those decorations. For many years, I experimented with different ways of making glitter say on something. Although my attempts have kept the glitter on the object, they seemed to dull the shine of the glitter. Last year, I decided to try something new and, much to my surprise, it worked! Since I liked how it worked so much, I decided to share it this holiday season!

Wood DIY Countdown to Christmas- Sanding The Filled In Parts
Hi everyone! In my previous post about my wood diy countdown to Christmas, I mentioned that I decided to fill the areas where there are gaps and the parts of the roof that broke. After taking the photos used in the post, I sanded. And sanded. And sanded some more. That was when I decided to take photographs of what the house looked like before I moved onto working on other areas.

Wood DIY Countdown to Christmas- Making the Roof Break Disappear
Hi everyone! In my previous post about my wood countdown to Christmas decoration, I talked about how the roof of the house was broken. I was able to glue the broken pieces back onto the house, but the broken sections could still be seen. I also knew it would be visible even when painted. In order to make these broken areas blend into the rest of the roof, I decided to use a wood filler on the broken areas.

Wood DIY Countdown to Christmas Decor- The Broken Roof & Future Plans
Hi everyone! Three years ago, I decided to purchase DIY wood Christmas decor and paint it with the colors I want them to have. At that point in time I wanted certain holiday decorations that were available as DIY wood decor, but not in a pre-painted version. One of the DIY decor I purchased was a wood Christmas countdown decoration. Over the years I worked on it and, as of the writing of this post, it is still not finished. Still, I enjoy thinking about it and working on it every now and then. Since I enjoy working on it, I wanted to write posts about how I turned it…

Wood Star DIY Sign- Plans, Materials, and Progress
Hi everyone! Last year, I got really into painting DIY wood decor. I really like the ability to customize decor to my colors and whatever style I think of. Last year, I found a star wall art at Dollar Tree. It was very pretty, but it gave me the idea to make a wall art inspired by something I used to decorate my room as a teenager. Back then, I had a star from my eighth grade promotion dance. It was simple, not super special, and was not made to last, yet I loved it a lot. The fact the dance was star inspired was also ironic. I liked looking…
