Dollar Tree Sailing and Ocean Themed Wood DIY Ornaments
Hi everyone! A few years ago, I decided to start creating more customized home decor. I wanted to do this prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, but decided to after the pandemic started. What spurred my desire to make customized home decor was my worries about finding new decor made out of higher quality materials. I also wanted to do this in order to have more things I made and can display around my house.
Earlier this month, I went to the Dollar Tree to see if they had any new books for sale. (I like to shop there for books) While there, I found the summer inspired decorations. They looked nice, but the decor I was really interested in purchasing were the wood DIY ornaments. The ornaments came in four designs, but all of the designs were sailing and ocean themed. Even though I don’t normally talk about my wood DIY projects online, I thought talking about my ideas for the ornaments would make a good post topic.
I purchased all four designs available…

I purchased one of each design. Each design comes with six ornaments and twine to hang the ornaments up.
The designs are a starfish…

A sailboat…

An anchor…

And a wale…

Right now, I’m not sure how I will decorate or display the ornaments once I’m finished decorating them. I don’t need to use them this year, but I still want to decorate them. I am considering staining the wood and painting colored lines onto them to accentuate certain design elements. I am also considering not staining them but painting them instead. In general, I’m still considering how to decorate them.
As for displaying these ornaments, I thought it would be cute to make a beach themed Christmas style tree for summer. Or use them to decorate a sea/beach themed tree for Christmas itself! I like both ideas. I also considered hanging them on a garland like Christmas tree ball ornaments as well as hanging them on a wall.
I am not in any rush to finish them or decorate with them. I like them a lot, so I’m happy to own them!
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
