Current Sewing and Knitting Projects- May 2022

It’s been a while since I wrote a post about my current sewing projects and the progress I made on them. Since I’m in between finishing sewing projects and finishing knitting projects, I wanted to write a post about what I’ve been working on and how far I am to finishing them. Also, I want to talk about my future plans for sewing projects. I have future plans for knitting project, but they take so long to finish I decided not to talk about them in a post at this time.

Currently Working On:

Summer Shorts

I need some new summer shorts, so I decided to make some. I purchased the fabric to make them in March, I already own the pattern to make them (It’s McCall’s M8148), and I cut out the pieces to make on pair of shorts. And that’s where I stopped. I became very busy in work and in my personal life that I couldn’t sit down and actually sew them. I plan on finishing the part I already cut out and another pair before the end of the month.

Pink and Green Log Cabin Quilt

I started working on a pink and green log cabin quilt in February. I finished sewing all the pieces together to make the blocks, but I had to stop because, like the shorts, I was too busy to finish. I tried picking it up in April, but I realized some of the blocks are not sewn correctly. I think I know what I did wrong, but I didn’t have the time or energy to figure it out or do the research to see if I am correct. I plan on picking it up in May and double checking myself to see if what I did wrong is actually what went wrong. If it is, I’ll fix it, resew all the quilt blocks together, and continue working towards finishing the quilt. I’m not sure when I’ll be done with the quilt, or the top portion of it, but I hope to figure out what’s wrong with the quilt before the end of May.

Harry Styles’ JW Anderson Patchwork Cardigan

So, I’m not a die hard Harry Styles fan, but after finding YouTube videos about making Harry Styles JW Anderson patchwork cardigan, I decided to make myself one. Even though the cardigan is well known for it’s bright colors, I didn’t like it. Instead, I decided to make it out of shades of grey. So far I finished making two complete sets of the six types of blocks in the cardigan and am working on number three. I’m not sure how it will look on me, but I think I will be comfortable wearing it. I have no idea how long it will take me to finish the cardigan. If I have the time and drive, I may be able to finish it before or in June of this year.

Future Plans:

Belle’s Yellow Ball Gown (Live Action Movie Version)

A few weeks ago, I talked about making Belle’s yellow ball gown from the live action version of the movie. In the last post, I said I couldn’t continue making the dress because I didn’t know where the pattern went. Well, in late April I found it again. Now that I have it, I plan on working on the dress again. The only problem is I don’t know how much time I have to work on it. I know I need to finish the shorts first so I can wear them, so they take top priority. Ideally, I would like to make the dress and finish it before Halloween this year.

Summer Shirts or Skirt

I already talked about making myself some new shorts for the summertime, but I want to make a different pair of shorts using a different sewing pattern. I’m also considering making a skirt out of the fabric as well. I don’t have enough fabric to make both, so I’ll need to choose one. Even though I’m still in the planning stages of this, I’m considering making a pencil skirt out of different fabric. I have other fabric I would like to turn into either shorts or skirts, but I want to focus on the first, already cut shorts I’m currently working on.

Dior/Chanel Inspired Skirt Suit

I’m not sure how well this well this will work out, but I want to make either a Dior or Chanel inspired suit. I found fabric in the clearance section of Joann’s that inspired me and made me think it of it. As of the writing this post, I need to buy the fabric and pick out the pattern. Even though I don’t own the fabric yet, I’m not worried it will sell out before I buy it. I found the fabric in February and, as of late April, nobody bought a yard of it. I plan on buying it sometime this month and spend the summer figuring out the suit and pattern and possibly sewing it.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
