  • Rose Tyler Empty Child Jacket

    May 23, 2013 /

This poor blog has fallen to the waist side while I worked on things for the Phoenix Comicon, so before I leave for the PCC, I decided to make a post about one of the costumes I’ll be wearing while there… Rose Tyler from The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances. Specifically the jacket. I know this isn’t the best photo of the jacket, but you get the idea of what I’m talking about. 🙂 I’ve been wanting to cosplay as Rose Tyler from those episodes for about a year now and I’ve gathered everything I needed for the costume except for the coat. I couldn’t find the real coat on ebay…

  • Idiot’s Lantern Dress Vers. 2- All the Pretty Sequins

    April 2, 2013 /

When I made Version 1 of my Rose Tyler, Idiot’s Lantern dress I didn’t have this blog so I didn’t have the ability to write about how I made the dress in the form of blog posts. Now that I have this blog, I hope I can keep more up-to-date about the progress I make while sewing version 2 of the dress. 🙂 Last week, I went to the fabric store and bought most of the sequins I’ll need for the dress. I’m not completely sure if I bought enough sequins, but I know where I can get more. 😉 Anyway, I bought the rolled sequin trim instead of the…

  • Revival of the Idiot’s Lantern Dress

    March 29, 2013 /

A few days ago, I tried on my beloved Rose Tyler-Idiot’s Lantern dress and much to my dismay, it didn’t fit me anymore. It makes me livid that I worked so hard on my dress, hand sewing each sequin onto the bodice individually, and now it doesn’t fit me anymore. In case anyone is wondering why the dress doesn’t fit me anymore, it’s quite simple: I grew taller. This is very unusual for a female my age to have a growth spurt, but it’s not unusual for my family. When I began making the dress, I thought I was done growing. Unfortunately, I was wrong and in the year after…

  • The Completed Idiot’s Lantern Dress

    November 18, 2012 /

A while ago, I talked about the Rose Tyler Idiot’s Lantern dress that I made by sewing all the sequins on the top by hand. At the time, I had finished sewing the sequins on it and thought it was completely done. Since then, I fixed parts of it I didn’t like and lengthened the skirt. (I lengthened the skirt by re-doing the hem. I made the skirt longer than I normally would so I could have the luxury of doing this) I didn’t have very many pictures of it because I didn’t have a dress form to show how the whole dress looks completed. I finally got around to…
