Sewing Progress for August 2021- Planned, Work in Progress, and Finished Projects

It’s already the end of September and, even though I wrote this post in August, I was on a break from blogging until September. Since my last sewing progress post in July, I finished some of my sewing projects, began (or continued work on) two others, and am currently making plans for new projects. I’m very excited about these projects, so I decided to make a new sewing progress post. I don’t have photographs to show off any of my sewing projects, but I will be posting photographs and taking more about them in future posts.

Finished Projects:

Fall Quilt

By the time this post is up, I already finished the fall quilt. Even though I already talked about my progress making the quilt in many posts, I still wanted to mention I finished it in my sewing update post. I’m still very happy about the way the quilt turned out and can’t wait to start to use it… as soon I find a place to display it!

Christmas Quilt

While working on the fall quilt, I also worked on a Christmas quilt using a panel. The Christmas quilt is finally done and I’m very happy with the way it turned out. I hope to talk about the Christmas quilt as part of a series of posts I’m planning to publish during the month of December. I’m not sure if I will be participating in Blogmas on this blog, but if I do, the Christmas quilt posts will be part of the Blogmas posts.

Flannel Christmas Dress

Another Christmas project I finished, and potential Blogmas post topic for December, is the flannel Christmas dress. I like the way it turned out, but hate the way I look in it. I love the style of the dress, but I really don’t think it’s very flattering on me. It’s a problem I have with the way 1950’s dresses look on my body type. I usually look better wearing something similar to what Marylin Monroe than the variations of Dior’s New Look, which is my favorite style of dress. Still, I like the dress and I don’t want to give it away anytime soon.

New Blanket for My Relative

I finally finished a new blanket for my relative! I was worried they would not like the finished blanket, but they did. So, I’ll be talking about that in a future post.

Works in Progress:

Hilary Duff x McCall’s Patterns Coats

I mentioned I wanted to make two coats using Hilary Duff x McCall’s patterns a few months ago. Well, it’s nearing fall and I need to start working on them or else they won’t be finished before the weather gets cold. I plan on making the two coats by working on them one at a time. I want to do this because the coats are not easy to make and I want to give as much of my focus to them without stressing about the other coat.

Navy Blue Fleece Coat

Between the Hilary Duff x McCall’s Patterns Coats and the navy blue fleece coat I mentioned I wanted to make last month, the navy blue fleece coat is the coat I’m the furthest along progress wise on. As of this post, my progress isn’t that impressive. So far I cut out all the pieces I need to make it. I still have yet to sew it together. I hope I can finish it before the end of the month.

Future Plans:

Christmas Tree Skirt & Coordinating Christmas Socks?

Making myself new Christmas tree skirts and coordinating Christmas socks are things I wanted to make for years, but I never did. This year I hope to make myself some. The only problem is I don’t know what design I should make first. Among the many designs/colors/themes I would like to make include a Marvel themed Christmas tree skirt and socks, shabby chic themed skirt and socks, glam decor inspired skirt and socks, traditional skirt and socks, cabin/plaid inspired skirt and socks, and quilt block themed skirt and socks. Since I have so many ideas, I’d rather pick one that I would really like to make and make it this year in time for Christmas.

Clothes (Shorts, Skirts, Shirts, and Dresses)

I know for certain something I plan on sewing this month are new clothes for myself. I’m starting to run out of clothes for colder months, especially bottoms. This is why out of all the projects in this future plans list, I need to start working on making myself clothes the most. I already have the patterns to make clothes I liked and recently did a huge search for all the fall/winter fabrics in my fabric collection I can use. This is why the last weeks of August will be dedicated to starting and completing these sewing projects.

Halloween Costume?

It’s over two months away from Halloween, but I’m seriously considering starting to make a Halloween costume. The only thing is I don’t really feel like making myself a Halloween costume this year. I have other things I need to do this month and I need to keep my schedule as clear as possible for the next few months. I still enjoy making costumes and plan on making some before the end of this year, but I don’t think making a costume specifically for Halloween is something I can do right now and possibly this year.

Hilary Duff x McCall’s Patterns Holiday Party Dress?

I want to make a holiday party dress using one of my Hilary Duff x McCall’s Patterns, but I’m unsure if I will be able to go to any parties this year. Despite this, I have the fabric to make it, the pattern to make it, and the desire to make it. So, if I have enough time (And motivation) this month, I plan on starting it.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
