New Fabric Designs- Medallion Waves, Art Deco Glass, and Butterflies

Hi everyone! I hope everyone had a fun filled Halloween! Today’s post is the second to last post I plan on making of my new fabric designs on Spoonflower. This post is about the colored version of my designs, Medallion Waves, Art Deco Glass, and Butterflies.

Like with most of the other designs I’ve made this month (And year), these design have a coloring version and are tone on tone designs. The difference between these three designs and most of the other tone on tone designs I created this year is I left the line art black and not a different color.

I decided to do this because I liked the way the designs looked with the black lines on it instead of white or another color. I’m very happy with the way these designs turned out and I hope others will as well!

Here are the Medallion Waves designs…

Because of the small details in the design, I had trouble making the colors stand out and not disappear in the black lines. I was able to make it work, but I had to change the darkness of color shades I used so they would stand out better.

The next design I will talk about is a colored version of Art Deco Glass.

After I posted the coloring book version, I didn’t know how to color it. Yes, I did a blue ombre and rainbow colored versions, but other than that, I was stumped. So, I colored it in flat colors without shading. I think I should blame this design for leading me to make my other coloring book designs with these colors because I really liked the way the designs looked like. In fact, I like the way this design turned out so much I don’t have plans to color this design any other way.

The last design I will talk about in this post is two color and white Butterfly designs.

When I worked on coloring these designs, I wanted to make them one flat color with white in the butterfly’s wings and black outline. This didn’t work out well, so I made the butterflies have a darker shade of the background color. I like the result and I hope others will as well!
