2015 Arizona Renaissance Festival Photos
Warning: This post is image heavy.
At long last, I finished editing and uploading the photos I took at the Arizona Renaissance Festival this year. It only took me almost a month and a half to do. *sigh*
I uploaded the photos to my Flickr recently in this album. All the photos in this post are linked to the photos on Flickr. If you want to see a bigger version of the photos, click on the photos and it will take you to the photo on Flickr.
I originally intended on doing what I did last year and buy a season pass to the Renaissance Festival (Or RenFest as I like to call it) but the car accident I got into in January depleted my RenFest funds and, worst of all, my desire to go. It got so bad at one point I was planning on not going at all this year (I didn’t have any friends to go with either), but I was able to gather some money to get a ticket and some money for a turkey leg in time for Time Traveler’s weekend.
When I was planning on getting a season pass, I wanted to wear the Clara Oswald Robots of Sherwood dress I was making earlier this year during Time Traveler’s weekend because AzTardis would be there with their Tardis. I thought I could get photos of me standing next to the Tardis because I was feeling healthy and confident enough to let people take photos of me. Unfortunately, I was so depressed about what happened in January and beyond that I took so much time working on the dress I didn’t finish the dress in time to wear it to Time Traveler’s weekend. It was very sad because I was nearly done making the dress, but my mind was elsewhere. Instead, I dressed like I normally do and wore the real Firetrap Harrie I got a few months prior to the Festival. (And, ironically, I was wearing it when the car accident happened. I love that jacket so much I’d wear it during a car accident. :P)
Even though I didn’t get a photo taken of me standing next to the Tardis, I did get photos of the Tardis motorcycle (I call it the Tardiscyle)…
I have other photos of the Tardiscyle, but I don’t know why there were never posted on Flickr. Go figure.
I also took a photo of what will become phone booth from Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure…
And the front door of the Tardis…
The Tardis has slowly gathered a collection of Doctor Who actor autographs over the past three-ish years, the first being John Baorrowman’s autograph. I’m sure when I see the Tardis again at next year’s RenFest (Unless something dumb happens again and I can’t go) it will have some more signatures.
I didn’t get a photo of the whole entire Tardis because it was so crowded I could barely squeeze in to get photos of the Tardis, Tardiscyle, and phone booth without a lot of people in the shot. I couldn’t get the cosplayers because of this too.
While waiting for the gates to open, the Washing Well Wenches entertained us…
Before getting chased away…
Then the royal court came and the gates where opened…
Since it was Time Traveler’s weekend, there were Storm Troopers and Star Wars characters in the festival. (I know Star Wars does not have time travelers, but I see it more like a “Wear your science fiction costume” weekend.)
I saw other Star Wars characters around the festival that day including Storm Troopers guarding the royal court and a Storm Trooper and Padme Amidala serve as joust bunnies (The joust’s cheerleaders) for Don Vincenzo di Sicilia’s side of the arena. I thought it was really funny to see them everywhere. 🙂
As per my normal RenFest routine, I went to watch Tartanic’s Bagpipes for Breakfast show. Last year I went to the show ever time I went to the festival. Since I had the season pass last year, I went to their show often. So often one of the band members recognize me. Oops. XD
Since it was Time Traveler’s weekend, they were wearing their Steampunk goggles.
After Tartanic’s show was over, I went to see the royal court, took a few photos before wandering around the festival some more…
And of course, there was a Storm Trooper standing guard watching the royal court…
While I wandered, I watched a little bit of Barely Balanced…
And the Clan Tynker…
Before I ended up getting a good seat for the noon joust…
And I got a few photos of the Storm Trooper and Padme Amidala I mentioned earlier in the post…
After the joust, I watched harpist Sarah Marie Mullen…
Adam Crack, whip cracker…
And went back to the jousting area to get a good seat for the 2:30 joust…
After the joust I watched London Broil juggle…
And the birds of prey show….
And ended the day watching the 5:00 joust, or the joust to the death…
Well, that’s all I have to say about the RenFest! I hope next year will be better for me so I can get the season pass and I can actually dress up in a costume I made for that year’s festival. Maybe even wear the Clara dress I made for this year’s festival. 🙂
