Hi everyone! I’m back from a two week blogging break! I had to take some time off because of the Easter holiday and to focus on my day job. But I’m back now with a new post about my trip to the Arizona Renaissance Festival! I’m also doing some cross posting of the photos in this post on my second blog, The Estella Imitative, so if you see photos with this blog’s watermark in a post on that blog, I’m just too lazy to reedit photos with the right watermark. 🙂
On March 3, 2018 I went to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. Unlike previous years, I didn’t buy a season pass so I only went to the festival once this year. Since the festival has themed weekends, I wanted to go to Time Travelers weekend. I’ve gone every year during this weekend for a few years now and I enjoy it so much I keep going back.
Since 2018 is the 30th anniversary of the festival, Lego Discovery Center in Arizona Mills Mall created a sculpture out of Legos to celebrate.
The sculpture was located in front of the jousting horses stalls. Continue reading “Arizona Renaissance Festival- March 3, 2018”
The 2017 Arizona Renaissance Festival is over for the year and I have some more photos I took while there to post and talk about.
The weekend of March 11th and 12th was Time Traveler’s Weekend. It is my favorite of the themed weekends at the festival because there is a Tardis from Doctor Who in front of the front gate and there are Star Wars characters from the 501st Legion in the festival. It’s always amusing to see the storm troopers serve as body guards of the royal court or Darth Vader watch the joust.
Like the last time I went to the festival, I mostly took photos of the joust. I was intending on taking photos of other acts, but I ran into problems with my camera’s batteries so I couldn’t take photos of anything or anyone else. In addition to this, I didn’t stay the whole day. It was unseasonably hot (Over 90 degrees Fahrenheit) and I didn’t want to over exhaust myself. As usual, I had a great time and I’m glad I went on this weekend!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
Last week I got sick with a nasty stomach flu so I was unable to sew, draw, or basically do anything besides rest. Because of this, my blogging plans for the next few weeks are going to be off by at least a week. While I work on my sewing, I decided to write a few posts about photos I recently took. Well, photos took before I got sick. XD
On February 12th, I went to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. Last year, when my family member died, I decided to go on multiple days to the festival because I have the freedom on the weekends to do “fun” things this year without elaborate planning that will end up not working out in the end. So, although I didn’t have a costume ready to be worn, I didn’t mind because I already planned to go on other weekends. 🙂
On this weekend I ended up not staying as long as I normally like to because I was starting to not feel well. I think the flu was starting to creep up on me back then, but it didn’t make me so ill I couldn’t do things until last week. In spite of this, I was able to take photos of the festival. In March, I went to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. I try to go every year, but due to a family health emergency, I really didn’t feel like going this year. I thought I’d skip this year, but I ended up going anyway. I also went with a friend, which was the first time I went with a friend in years!
Since my mind was focused on the family illness and I wanted to enjoy spending time with my friend, I didn’t feel like dressing up and I didn’t take as many photos as I normally do when I’m at the festival. I do have a few, most are located in my 2016 Arizona Renaissance Festival on Flickr, but here a few of my favorites…

Warning: This post is image heavy.
At long last, I finished editing and uploading the photos I took at the Arizona Renaissance Festival this year. It only took me almost a month and a half to do. *sigh*
I uploaded the photos to my Flickr recently in this album. All the photos in this post are linked to the photos on Flickr. If you want to see a bigger version of the photos, click on the photos and it will take you to the photo on Flickr.
I originally intended on doing what I did last year and buy a season pass to the Renaissance Festival (Or RenFest as I like to call it) but the car accident I got into in January depleted my RenFest funds and, worst of all, my desire to go. It got so bad at one point I was planning on not going at all this year (I didn’t have any friends to go with either), but I was able to gather some money to get a ticket and some money for a turkey leg in time for Time Traveler’s weekend.
When I was planning on getting a season pass, I wanted to wear the Clara Oswald Robots of Sherwood dress I was making earlier this year during Time Traveler’s weekend because AzTardis would be there with their Tardis. I thought I could get photos of me standing next to the Tardis because I was feeling healthy and confident enough to let people take photos of me. Unfortunately, I was so depressed about what happened in January and beyond that I took so much time working on the dress I didn’t finish the dress in time to wear it to Time Traveler’s weekend. It was very sad because I was nearly done making the dress, but my mind was elsewhere. Instead, I dressed like I normally do and wore the real Firetrap Harrie I got a few months prior to the Festival. (And, ironically, I was wearing it when the car accident happened. I love that jacket so much I’d wear it during a car accident. :P)
Even though I didn’t get a photo taken of me standing next to the Tardis, I did get photos of the Tardis motorcycle (I call it the Tardiscyle)…

I realized I didn’t talk about attending this year’s Renaissance Festival! I can’t believe it! Especially since it’s usually the highlight of the first six months of my year and I make costumes for it months in advance! 😛
Every year since 2009 (I believe) I’ve gone to the Arizona Renaissance Festival. I really do enjoy it and have fun taking photos of everything I see. Especially the jousts!
This year’s festival was different because for the first time ever, I bought myself a season pass allowing me to go almost every single day the festival was open. I ended up skipping many days due to illness and general life stuff, but I enjoyed going more than one day! I saw things I never knew happened and I got to generally enjoy the festival instead of constantly snapping photos of everything I saw.
Since I sometimes talk about fun things I’ve done here on my blog, I thought the festival was something of note and a place to post a handful of the photographs I took at the festival. I’ve also been posting the photos I take on my DevantART (You can see the gallery here) but recently I signed myself up for a Flickr account so I could post my photos without being so harsh on myself when it comes to quality level, favorites, will people like it, ect. I usually take so many of them I feel guilty about not sharing more than a handful a year.
The photos I’m including in this post are a small amount of the photos I took at the festival. I’ll include links to the Flickr albums from each day at the end of this post. I also made a page under the photography category of my website with links to the albums as well. That page can be viewed here.
Enjoy! Continue reading “2014 Arizona Renaissance Festival”
