Romantic Scrap Quilt- All the Strips Are Cut
Hi everyone! It’s been a while since since I talked about sewing on this blog. (Ok, it’s been a very long while since I posted regularly, but I was busy with life offline) In order to get back into talking about sewing, I decided to start by talking about some of the progress I made on one of my quilts: The romantic scrap quilt. (I used to call it the romantic scrappy quilt, but I decided to drop the “scrappy” and just call it “scrap”.)
I talked about this quilt in a previous post. (You can read it here) In the post, I talked about the fabric I purchased, which is from Walmart, and my plans to make a scrap (Or scrappy as I used to call it) quilt out of them. Since that post, I made a lot of progress making the quilt, but I haven’t updated this blog with my progress posts yet. So, it’s time to do so!
Months ago, I decided to take some time off doing my chores and work on cutting all the strips for the quilt. I cut them in 2 1/2 inch strip widths. Once I was done, they looked like this…

And here is another photograph of the strips together, but arranged differently…

So, that was about it for that day. Soon after (Maybe the next day?) I sewed the strips together. I decided to sew two strips together at a time in order to make the next step of cutting the strips easier.
Cutting these strips is also the first time I used my new rotary cutter and blade. It is supposed to cut multiple layers of fabric in one pass, which made a huge difference in the amount of time I spent cutting all the strips. I was going back and forth about purchasing it because I already have a rotary cutter and blade that still works. After using it on these quilt pieces, I am happy to say I made a wise decision to buy the cutter! I still plan on using my first rotary cutter, but I am glad I have a new one that can cut multiple layers of fabric easily as well!
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
