Cotton Corduroy Fabric Squares- What They Are and What They Are Meant For

Advertisements

Hi everyone! During a major clean out last year, I found corduroy fabric cut into squares. I was surprised to find them because I knew what they are for.

Here are the corduroy squares…

The squares have a lot of lint on them because I needed to wash them.

Anyway, why is the fabric cut into squares for? They are meant to create a top for a blanket for one of my relatives. My relative has a corduroy blanket in the same colors as the blocks. Many years ago, it was starting to wear out. That is when another relatives began to work on a new blanket like the original. This relative made the first blanket, so it was logical they would make the blanket for them.

Unfortunately, my relative never finished the blanket. They passed away before they could start to sew the blanket together.

When I found the squares, I was excited and very happy to see them. When I inherited my relative’s things after they passed away, I couldn’t find the squares anywhere. So, I bought some new cotton corduroy fabric at JoAnn before it closed to make a new blanket, just in case they were lost forever. Now that I found the squares, I can finally make my relative a new blanket!

Since I found the squares and washed them, (Trust me. They needed to get washed.) I haven’t been able to sit down a sew it together. Making a new blanket for my relative is something that I know I really need to work on this year. My relative needs a new blanket soon because their old one has holes in it. So, it’s time to replace it!

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
