Tiffany & Co Gift Box Inspired Wall Art- Sketching and Paint Choices
Hi everyone! For many years, I wanted to own canvases with illustrations of luxury fashion items. I own some from places like Hobby Lobby, but there were a few I liked yet never purchased and own. One of them is of a Tiffany & Co gift box.
Recently, I decided to search for a canvas again. I didn’t anticipate purchasing one, but I did want to know how much they cost compared to what they cost a few years ago. After my research, I didn’t like the prices of the canvases nor did I like the designs or the size of the canvases. After dwelling on this, I decided to buy myself a canvas and create my own Tiffany & Co inspired gift box wall art.
The canvas I purchased is 8 inches by 10 inches. All the canvases I looked at are over 11 inches long on the shortest end. I own a few fashion art canvas this large, but I don’t want all the canvases to be that large. I prefer them to be smaller so I can pepper them between my other large wall art I hang on my walls. Yet, they don’t come in a smaller size. The 8 x 10 canvas is my preferred size for this picture.
After I purchased the canvas, I sat down and began to sketch the way I want the box to look like. I ended up with this design…

The canvas came pre primed, so I could just start sketching what I want it to look like after unwrapping the canvas. I wanted my art to depict the gift box directly from the top, with the white bow off to the side. I didn’t want to add the labels Tiffany & Co puts on their boxes because I like the color of the box a lot. I also plan on adding glitter to the picture. I believed adding glitter to the picture would mess with the readability of the label.
As for what I want to use to paint the canvas, I picked up glitter and metallic craft paint…

I purchased them from the same place I purchased the canvas from: Walmart. I thought I would need the metallic paint to add more sparkle to the picture, but I ended up not using it. The glitter, on the other hand, was perfect for this project.
I wanted to add glitter to the gift box because I was mimicking popular wall art brands. They put glitter on the canvases to emphasize parts of the picture. I wanted to use this for this canvas.
In my next post, I will talk about painting the canvas and my thoughts about what I could’ve done better.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
