An Update on my Pink and Green Quilt- Current Progress and Possible Future Plans for It

Hi everyone! It’s been about a year (It feels like it at least) since I talked about my pink and green quilt. I started last year, but never wrote an update about it since then. Since it has been so long since I talked about it, I wanted to write a post about how far along I am in making it as well as any changes I want to make to it.

So, since my last post, I tried to sew all the quilt blocks together. Once I sewed them together, the looked something like this…

By the way, this is an old photograph I took of what the blocks looked like if they were sewn together. They weren’t sew together at that time.

After sewing many of the blocks together, I realized I didn’t like the way the blocks matched up. This has always been a problem for me when I quilt. Even though the blocks didn’t match as badly as other quilts I made, I decided to stop sewing the blocks together, rip the seams, and then re sew them to be in better alignment.

Sadly, that is where I left the quilt last year. This year, I want to pick up making the quilt again. After sewing the blocks again, I am considering changing the quilt into a duvet cover.

I want to start using a duvet this year. It is more practical for me to use than a comforter. Despite this, I am having a hard time finding duvet covers. This is why I am considering using this quilt as a heavier weighted duvet cover.

My rough idea is to make sew the quilt together like normal. When it is time to add the binding, I thought I could add a backing to it for the duvet. I know how to do this, but I don’t know how well it will work for a quilt top. Making a quilted top for a duvet cover will make the duvet warmer. I like this idea because, even though I live in a warm climate, my bedroom gets cold due to its location in the house. I really like the idea of a layer of extra warmth! I am worried it will make the duvet bulkier or some other unforeseen problem will arise that will jeopardize the quilt. Still, I feel like I want to risk it. If I don’t try to turn the quilt into a duvet cover, it is not because I don’t want to attempt to make a quilted duvet cover. It is because I don’t want to turn this quilt into a duvet cover!

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
