An Update About My Society6 Shop
Hi everyone! It’s been a few weeks since I wrote a post here on this blog. I decided to take some time off this blog to focus on other things. One of those things is to create more things! Sadly, nothing is done enough to post online at this time. Instead, I decided to write a post about my shop on Society6. I also need to write an update post about my Spoonflower shop, but that one won’t be ready for a while.
In 2023, I, as well as other artists, received an email from Society6. It said that they were introducing a paid plan system to their site. This system is tiered and will affect artists selling on Society6 only. It has three tiers, one free and two paid. The free tier allows the artist to make ten pieces of art available for purchase. The other two allow for more, depending on the amount of money paid. The money is to be paid monthly.
When I saw this, I had to brush off the email and taking care of my shop. It’s not Society6’s fault, I was just too busy and distracted to focus on making changes to my shop before the deadline. Now that I had time to think about what I want to do with my shop or what I want my goals as an artist selling prints of my work (Both illustration and photography), I decided to allow my shop to be set on the free tier.
I actually don’t sell any prints on Society6. In fact, I debated shutting it down years ago! I’m not sure what went wrong or why nobody is purchasing prints on there, but I’m heavily learning towards the fact my art and photographs are not something that will sell well on Society6. The popular and promoted art on there is not in my style, so I’m not sure if my art will be liked on the site. (Also, I feel the art I posted on there isn’t as high quality as I know I can create. That may be a factor in the non existent sales.)
Even though I didn’t selling anything on Society6, I am still going to keep the shop open. I will just be using the free tier and listing on ten of my art pieces on there. As of this post, I still need to look through everything I posted and see if I want to keep any of my old designs available for purchase. This is why any of my art will be available for sale on Spoonflower only. Since Spoonflower is a print on demand fabric and wallpaper site, there will be no prints available at this time.
I will be talking about what my plans are for prints and more in a future post.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
