2023 Knitting Bucket List: Christmas Edition

Hi everyone! Halloween is less than a week away, but for knitters, it is never to early to plan ahead for Christmas knitting projects. For many years, I had ideas for Christmas themed knitting projects. Some of them I have a pattern and yarn but never made it. Others are just ideas I want to make but haven’t started the planning process on. I never talked about these knitting projects online (At least to my recollection) but I want to start talking about them!

For this post, I want to talk about all the Christmas themed knitting projects I want to work on this year. I know I won’t get them done in time for Christmas, but these are the projects I’m thinking about the most. And now, here is my 2023 knitting bucket list, Christmas edition.

Christmas Stockings

For many years, I have seen knitted Christmas stockings for sale in stores. For just as many years I hated those stockings. Don’t get me wrong. The stockings looked really nice. For the right people, they are the perfect decor pieces. As for me, I always found something I didn’t like about them. They didn’t have the right kind of design I wanted them to have. They weren’t made out of the right kind of yarn. Don’t get me started on how the yarn the stockings were made out of would catch and pull! This is why I decided to make myself Christmas stockings.

As of this post I have no pattern ideas nor yarn purchased to make them. Instead, I am taking my time to think about them and search for the right kind of yarn to make the stockings out of.

Christmas Tree Skirt

Just like the Christmas stockings, I would see knitted Christmas tree skirts in stores. Over the years, I found some I actually like. Still, I want to make my own knitted tree skirt. I found a base pattern I want to use, but no yarn. In the future, I want to make a skirt in the same style as the stockings I want to knit. That way I can have a matching set!

Christmas Themed Sweater

I never thought about making myself a Christmas themed sweater until a few years ago. That was when I began to see Kiel James Patrick’s (KJP) sweaters. Seeing them gave me ideas for my own hand made sweater. I know I could buy one of KJP’s sweaters, but I have an idea in my head for a sweater in a certain style with a certain design pattern in it. KJP does not offer sweaters in the style or with the designs I want. So, I will need to knit one for myself. I already gathered many patterns to make myself a sweater, but no yarn yet. I want to decide on the design I want to make before I buy the yarn.

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
