Florence-Kelvin Highway Photographs- December 2020 Part 3
When I went to the Florence-Kelvin Highway in December 2020, I wanted to focus on taking photographs of one saguaro cactus that can be seen from the road. The cactus is a cristate, or crested, saguaro cactus, which means the cactus has a mutation that makes the crown, or top, of the cactus to create a crested fan formation. You can read more about the cactus here.
The cactus is located off the highway and can be seen while driving on the highway. On the day I went on a drive on the Florence-Kelvin Highway, there were rain storms and passing clouds in the area. I thought these clouds would make a beautiful backdrop for photographs of the cristate cactus.
Here is what the cactus looked like from the highway…
Near the cactus are other saguaro cacti. They are not cristate cacti, but I wanted to photograph them anyway…
Another photograph of the cristate cactus…
Another photograph of the cacti nearby with clouds and virga in the background…
And another photograph of the cristate saguaro cactus…
And finally, even more saguaro cacti and other cacti neighbors…
I have more photographs of the cristate saguaro cactus and a few other cacti in the area, but I’m saving them for future posts.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
