Walk Around Main Street in Florence, Arizona- February 17, 2018- South Main Street Part 2

After taking enough photographs of the court house to make me happy, I went back to Main Street where I began to take photographs where I stopped.

The first place I took a photograph of was the whole building of the historic Florence Town Hall/Fire Department/Police Station…

It used to serve as the police station and as the location of Florence Copper’s offices. I already talked about it in a previous post (You can read it here) and posted a photograph of the historic site plaque in front of the building.

Even though I already posted the photograph of the plaque in the previous post, I wanted to re post the photograph in this post…After taking a photograph of the historic Florence Town Hall, I took a photograph of the building right next to it, which was the location of Belva’s Real Estate…

I remember going inside that building over the years. It wasn’t always a real estate office, but I seemed to go inside that building with my family no matter who worked there or what the business that occupied that building was.

After taking a photograph of the building, I walked north on main street. While walking, I took a photograph of the old The Bottle Shoppe Liquor Drive In sign…

The drive in sign, as well as the drug store sign was on the building that served as the town’s pharmacy and bottle shoppe. I remember going in there for years not just for soda drinks, but for medication, gifts, cards, and flowers to give as gifts. The pharmacy part of the store closed over ten years ago and the bottle shoppe closed a few years ago as well. As of this post, the building has sat closed and quite for years.

After looking at the pharmacy, I walked onto the building next to it: The Juan Aveneti Building…

Seeing the photographs I have of this building make me sad. The reason is because the Juan Aveneti building was the location of the Kokopelli Saloon. The building burnt down in June of 2018. Since then the remains of the building were torn down by the town of Florence and the empty area is sometimes used as a parking lot. I have so many feelings about this building, it’s history, and what happened to it, but I wanted to refrain from talking openly about my feelings.

Although I have other photographs of the building, I wanted to share only two. The first was of this window, which I wanted to attempt to sketch in the future…

And the second was the alley way between the Saloon and the Total Concept salon…

Well, that’s all I have to show you. Thank you for reading!
