Sewing & Craft Review- September 2019
Hi everyone! It’s October, which means that Halloween is on it’s way. As of this post, I’m still unsure what I should dress up as, but I have a few ideas that will require me to sew something. Since I plan on sewing this month, I wanted to do a sewing and craft review from September. I did a lot of sewing last month, but I also knitted. I plan on writing separate posts about each project this month, but for now I’ll just talk a little about everything I worked on.The first project I worked on was a scarf…
I really wanted to get better at knitting this year, but after my bout of tendonitis in my thumb, I couldn’t start my knitting projects as soon as I hoped I would. After I could start knitting, I started this scarf. I found the pattern in the early fall 2019 issue of Vogue Knitting. I had some problems knitting the scarf, but I’ll talk about it in a different post.
The next project I worked on was this 1910’s shirt pattern…
The pattern was… interesting. And no, I do not mean that in a good way. I’ll go into more detail in the post dedicated to the shirt and the pattern, but it was a pain.
The last project I worked on was this 1910’s coat pattern…
I wanted a 1910’s coat for over a year, but I couldn’t find the right pattern. I originally wanted to use the 1910’s shirt pattern I mentioned before, but after all the problems I had with the pattern I decided to buy and use this one instead.
Even though the 1910’s coat is the last project I worked on last month, I worked a little on turning some of my cotton scraps into English paper piecing pieces…
I hate quilting, something I hope to talk more about in the future, but English paper piecing is the exception. I’m not ready to work on a quilt yet, but I am happy I used some of my old cotton scraps and turned them into something I will enjoy making in the future.
Well, that’s all for now! Next week will be the first post about all my sewing and knitting projects from last month! Thank you for reading!
