March 2018 Sewing Pattern Haul

Hi everyone! It’s time for another sewing pattern haul. I missed February’s pattern haul because I didn’t buy any patterns. In March, McCall’s and Simplicity patterns were on sale so I bought some that I wanted along with pattern I already owned but needed to buy new ones as back up or replacements.

In addition to this post, I also created a video about my pattern haul! You can see it here:

The first patterns I’ll talk about are the McCall’s patterns.

When I went to my local Hobby Lobby during their McCall’s pattern sale, they didn’t have the Spring 2018 patterns for sale at the store I went to. I know they had the new Spring 2018 patterns for sale at other store locations, but the one closest to me almost always put the new season patterns out after the sale ends. Since I couldn’t buy the new patterns I wanted, I bought old patterns that I either wanted to replace or have a back up for.

Although I bought a lot of patterns, I decided to show two of them: McCall’s pattern numbers 7616…

And pattern number 6819…

If you’ve followed my blog for a few years, you might remember pattern 6819. I talked about it in a favorite pattern post back in 2013. Since then, I’ve received questions about it, mostly dealing with the construction of it. I’ve wanted to make the pattern for a few years and almost finished making something using it, but since then I’ve grown taller and lost weight so it no longer fits me. I wanted to make at least one of the coats and document me making them so I can help others understand the instructions better. I’m not sure when I’ll make the coat, but it is near the top of my to-make list.

As for pattern 7616, I wanted this pattern for a while. I don’t remember buying the pattern and I cannot find the pattern in my pattern stash, so I bought a new one just in case.

The rest of the patterns I bought are from Simplicity. I was very surprised that my local Hobby Lobby didn’t have the Spring 2018 McCall’s patterns during their sale, they did have Simplicity’s Spring 2018 patterns. That normally never happens, or it hasn’t happened within recent memory. Since I could buy the new patterns for the sale price, I stocked up on the patterns and didn’t pay too much attention to rebuying old patterns I wanted or buy the patterns I wanted to buy but missed during the last sale.

Some of the new patterns I bought are 8629, the newest Firefly Path/Simplicity collaboration pattern…

8597 and 8598, skirt and top patterns inspired by the kind of dresses that are popular this year for prom and teenagers in general…

And 8628, a Disney Princess/Simplicity collaboration pattern of 1950’s style skirts. (I think these skirts would be perfect for Dapper Day at Disneyland and Walt Disney World)

And, finally, 8609, an outfit pattern I wanted because I want to use the top pattern for a costume and I can use the skirt pattern to make myself a skirt…

Even though I had other new patterns on my list that I wanted to buy, I decided to buy a few older patterns I wanted as back-up. They are 8328…

Another one is 8491

And 8489

And finally 8578 and 8579…

The last pattern I bought in March is Simplicity pattern number 1099…

I bought this pattern already, but I cannot find it in my pattern stash. Since I had a new project coming up that I wanted to use it for, I decided to buy a new one as a back-up. After looking at Simplicity’s website, I discovered the pattern is no longer in print and is no longer able to be purchased on the website. So, I looked for it on Etsy and bought it off there.

Well, that’s all I have to show you! Thank you for reading!
