  • An Update on the McCall’s M8029 Sew With Me Video- Current Plans and Where the New Video Is

    April 21, 2026 /

Last year, I published a post about a video I posted on YouTube. The video was about how I made McCall’s pattern M8029. It wasn’t well received because it didn’t have a lot of details on how to sew the pattern. Even though I changed the title to say it wasn’t a tutorial, it still wasn’t well liked. So, I decided to take it down and planned on making a new video. It’s been over a year since I did this, but I haven’t uploaded a new video. I thought I would be able to release a new video about the pattern, but I didn’t. Since the video is taking…

  • A Post About Indi Sewing Patterns and Why I Like Them So Much

    July 17, 2024 /

Hi everyone! I am the proud owner of many (Probably too many) sewing patterns. I amassed my collection over the years and am very happy with my collection. Since 2020, I began to shift my attention away from commercial patterns from the big 4 pattern companies to smaller Indi brand pattern companies I found on Etsy. I have used some of the Indi brand patterns before, but I don’t talk about them online. To be honest, I really love the Indi brand patterns. Their styles are on trend, yet unique. They can also come in a very large variety of sizes, which I love. I am borderline plus size in…

  • New Sewing Project! Sewing Vogue Pattern V2004

    May 16, 2024 /

Hi everyone! It’s been a few years since I wrote a series of posts about sewing clothing. I used to do this a lot for the costumes I made. Today, I prefer to make my own clothes instead of costumes! Since I shifted my attention to sewing clothing for myself, I decided to document my process of making clothing in blog posts. The piece of clothing I decided to make is a summer dress using Vogue Pattern’s V2004. I planned on making this pattern for an Easter dress, but the physical pattern didn’t arrive until after Easter. I decided to use cotton sateen fabric to make view A (AKA the…

  • My Sewing Project List for Spring 2024

    March 21, 2024 /

Hi everyone! It’s spring time and I really enjoy this time of the year. One of the things I look forward to every spring is creating a new list for sewing projects. This year, I have many clothes I want to make. Some of them are clothing items I wanted to make for months if not years, but never did. Others are new sewing patterns I purchased and want to make. I don’t know if I will be able to finish everything on this list before the end of spring. Still, my goal is to make at least three of the projects on this list before the end of spring.

  • Simplicity S8926 Sewing Pattern: Plans and Ideas

    March 2, 2023 /

Hi everyone! Last year, I purchased a copy of Simplicity pattern S8926. At that time, I wanted to buy a pattern to make a sort-of almost look a like pajama set I saw on YouTube. The person I saw wearing the pajamas is from Japan and, knowing Japanese sizing, I will most defiantly not fit them. (Even though the pajamas are oversized and will probably fit me that way, I am still too tall to wear them!) Despite the size difference, I couldn’t stop thinking about the pajamas. They were so cute and practical! They would also be fun to wear during the Christmas season. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find a…

  • New Spring 2022 Sewing Patterns for Prom Dresses- Vogue Patterns

    February 24, 2022 /

A few days ago, I talked about Simplicity and New Look Spring 2022 sewing patterns that could be used to make prom dresses. At the time I wrote the post, there was only one other pattern company with a Spring 2022 pattern collection available for purchase: Vogue Patterns. Vogue Pattern’s Spring 2022 collection has many patterns I like, but not as many I like as prom dresses. Some may disagree with me, but I didn’t see many patterns that would make prom dresses that are popular this year. Despite this, I wanted to write a post about the Spring 2022 patterns that could potentially make a prom dress or a…

  • New Spring 2022 Sewing Patterns for Prom Dresses- Simplicity and New Look

    February 22, 2022 /

A few weeks ago, I wrote four posts about sewing patterns I think could make prom dresses. Since then, two of the big four sewing pattern companies released their Spring 2022 pattern collections. In these releases, there are new formal patterns as well as dress patterns that could work as prom dresses. Since there are so many dress and formal clothing patterns to pick from, I wanted to write new posts about these patterns. For this new series of posts, I’m starting with Simplicity patterns. Along with Simplicity, I will also talk about a New Look sewing pattern that is new for Spring 2022 and I think could work as…

  • Favorite Prom Dress Sewing Patterns for 2022- McCall’s Part 2

    February 3, 2022 /

Well, today is the final post about my favorite prom dress sewing patterns for 2022! I found so many McCall’s patterns I think could work as sewing patterns for prom dresses I decided to slip the patterns into two posts. This is part two. You can read part one here. As with the previous McCall’s pattern post, I wanted to mention that I didn’t choose patterns from the Spring 2022 collection. When I created this list, the collection was unavailable, so I couldn’t include the patterns in this post.

  • Favorite Prom Dress Sewing Patterns for 2022- McCall’s Part 1

    February 1, 2022 /

For the past few posts, I talked about the sewing patterns I think will make great prom dresses. There is one pattern company I have yet to talk about: McCall’s. When I searched McCall’s website for sewing patterns, I found more dress patterns than for any other company. Since I have so many patterns to talk about, I decided to split the patterns into two posts. Also, all the patterns I will be talking about do not include Spring 2022 pattern releases. When I wrote this post, the spring pattern collection was not available at that time. So, I included the patterns from previous collections.

  • Favorite Prom Dress Sewing Patterns for 2022- Vogue

    January 27, 2022 /

Continuing with my series of posts about my favorite prom dress patterns, I wanted to include dresses from Vogue Patterns. Vogue Patterns is one of the most fashion forward pattern companies that I looked at for prom dress patterns. When I looked at the special occasion patterns, I found many patterns that make pretty dresses, but I didn’t find many that would be great for teens or would be modest enough to be appropriate for potential prom dress codes. Even though I was worried I couldn’t find any patterns for teens, I found seven patterns that could potentially be good options for prom dresses.
