Christmas Tree Skirt
Happy New Year everyone! First post for 2015! Yay!
For me, this year’s Christmas didn’t turn out as well as I’d like it to have, mostly because my family, including myself, was sick. In spite of feeling miserable, I did try to make a new Christmas tree skirt. It was on my to-do list for years but I never got around to it until this year. The family usually uses a beautiful Christmas tree skirt my mom made year ago, but I always wanted to make one for myself.
Here’s what it looks like…
The skirt is made out of pin tucked copper taffeta, black cotton as a backing, glitter trim, organza ribbon as ties, and black/gold cotton fabric for the ruffle. I used Simplicity pattern number 1577 to make the skirt.
I’m very happy with how the skirt came out. I’ve been saving the taffeta for the skirt for almost a year. I originally bought it to make the Elizabeth i dress from Day of the Doctor, but once the fabric arrived in the mail, I realized it was the wrong color. Still, I liked the fabric very much so I kept it and began to make some things out of it. I hope to one day I’ll make a dress out of the fabric, but for now it’s been very useful as fabric for Christmas stockings and other things.
