Winter Deer Scene Embroidery Kit Progress and New Floss Color Choices
Hi everyone! It’s time for a progress post on my Winter Deer Scene embroidery kit! For this post, I want to show the first phase of progress as well as talk about my new color choices for the floss.
I already mentioned in my first post in this series, but I have already finished embroidering this design. I decided to delay publishing the posts about this kit near the holiday season.
This is what the embroidery looked like at this time beside the kit’s color guide…

And here is a close up of the embroidery…

At the time I worked on the embroidery, I was slower than I normally embroider. It took me over a week of work to get to this point. I was able to finish the snowfall and tree trunks over one afternoon and evening’s work. Yet, it took me longer to work on the deer. I needed to take more time off embroidering because things became busy and I didn’t have time to work on it.
Even though work was slow, I was still happy I decided to change the floss for this embroidery design. I don’t like the floss the kit came with, so I used floss I already own. The brand of the floss I used for this kits is J & P Coats. Although it isn’t as nice as DMC, I didn’t want to use DMC on the design. I like the design, but I wanted to save all the DMC floss I own for other embroidery projects.
Since I changed the floss for this embroidery kit, I needed to pick new colors for the kit. The snow part of the design was easy to pick (White floss to replace white floss) and I was able to pick one of the tree’s floss. The second tree and the deer weren’t that easy to pick. So, I decided to pick two floss colors to use at the same time. In the embroidery progress photos, the two toned floss is not very noticeable on the deer, but it is there. Sadly, I don’t have a better photograph of the deer’s embroidery from this progress photographs.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
