Red Pickup Truck Quilt Panel- What It (Kind of) Looks Like and Plans
Hi everyone! A few years ago, I had an idea to make myself wall hangings out of fabric. The plan was to buy fabric panels for quilting and turn them into wall hangings. I have already mentioned this before in previous posts (You can read about one of them here).
Although I started working on them, I never finished all the wall hangings I had planned. They have since sat around and waited until I have time to work on them. Right now I’m in the process of prioritizing my sewing and other DIY projects. This is when I came across all my fabric panels. After some thought, I decided to move forward with purchasing all the necessary things to finish them. One of the first panels I want to work on is one with a vintage red pick up truck.
This is what one corner of the panel looks like…

I tried to take a photograph of what the whole panel looks like, but it is too large to photograph easily. I hope the corner of the panel is enough to give everyone an idea of what it looks like.
I purchased it five or more years ago at Hobby Lobby. It depicts a red, vintage truck in front of a barn. There are sleep and lush green vegetation, which makes me think it depicts the farm during the spring/summer time.
The plan for this panel is to create a border out of fabric with a wood design. I have two fabrics I purchased from Spoonflower with two different wood designs and colors I plan on using. This is what they look like next to the panel…

Here is a closeup of the fabrics themselves…

The one on the right is by Willowlanetextiles. The one on the right is by Kadenza.

And here is a closeup of what the Kadenza fabric design looks like…

I already talked about these wood grain design fabrics in a previous post about different fabric panels. I decided to purchase multiple yards of the fabric in order to use it on different fabric designs. They will also be used in future panel designs as well.
Anyway, I decided to pick Kadenza’s fabric design for this panel. I think Willowlandtextiles’ design is too similar to the wood on the barn and won’t look like a picture frame, which is what I want the wood border to look like.
Even though I have picked the border fabric, I ended up postponing work on this panel for a while. I have some new sewing projects that have recently popped up. I need to work on them before I work on anything “fun”, like working on this panel!
That’a all for now! Thank you for reading!
