Create It Bee Cotton Fabric Strips from Walmart (And Thoughts About Shopping At My Closest Walmart)

Hi everyone! A month or so ago, I had an idea to make a new dress for spring. The plan was to make it out of yellow fabric and decorate the section where the bodice meets the skirt with a quilt pattern appliqué. I couldn’t find the right yellow fabric to make the dress out of, so I didn’t proceed in making it this year. Despite the fabric search setback, I still found some fabric that I wanted to use as the quilt appliqué.

Since the dress making delay, I debated if I want to use the fabric to make a quilt or quilt pillow or to keep it until I make the dress. I really like the fabric I have, but I don’t know what to decide!

This is the fabric I purchased…

I purchased the fabric at Walmart and is from the brand Create It. The fabric are cut into strips and are sold as coordinating packs. At the Walmart I purchased these packs at had two coordinating packs, one pack with solid colored fabric and one with a print. The design I picked was of bees and wild flowers.

I really like the fabric design, so I purchased several pack of both the design and the coordinating solid fabric pack. I planned on making the quilt appliqué using one pack of the solid fabric and one pack with the fabric design. I can still do this, but since I put the dress on hold, I haven’t made much progress planning the dress.

In order to figure out how much fabric I should use for the quilt appliqué, I need to settle on the dress pattern I plan on using. I am considering at least three sewing patterns. All of them are different except they all have a tight fitting bodice and a gathered skirt. Since I want to attach the quilt appliqué to the area where the skirt is pleated and attached to the bodice, I will need to consider how the appliqué will affect the way the skirt lays. Also, I have an idea for the quilt design will be, so I need to take that into account for how the skirt will lay as well.

I feel like I’m over guessing myself about how to use this fabric. I like this fabric a lot, but it is just fabric. I am worried I won’t be able to purchase any new packets of fabric for a while. I currently have a love/hate relationship with the Walmart closest to where I live. On the one hand, I want to continue shopping there because it is close. On the other hand, it is hard to travel to and shop due to the amount of traffic problems and other problems in the area. I don’t want to go back to shop for more of this fabric, or at the store in general, no matter how much I love it. This is why I’m struggling with how I plan on to use it. I could travel further away, but it is a hassle. Also, I can’t find the fabric available for purchase on Walmart’s website.

Basically, I’m not sure what to do! I know I’m going to use it, I just don’t know how or when. Also, if I decide to use more fabric, I will need to shop in store at a different Walmart. Even though the fabric isn’t the most important thing in the world, purchasing more is tied into a deeper concern for me. Furthermore, that concern also includes where to shop safely and at a place where the stock isn’t inconsistent like it is at my closest Walmart. I noticed the more worry I have about the Walmart and shopping there, the less joy I have in using anything I purchased there. This is why I am struggling with how to use the fabric.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
