Red, White, and Blue Quilt Pillow Case- Fabric Choices and The Color Shades
Hi everyone! This weekend is Memorial Day weekend, which is the unofficial start of Summer. I wanted to make a patriotic themed quilt for years, but I never felt ready to do it until this year. Even though I want to make a full sized quilt, I wanted to start with a throw pillow case.
Here is the fabric I decided to use for the quilt…
Sadly, the photograph is dark and doesn’t show the true shades of the red and blue fabrics. I tried to edit the photograph so it would appear lighter, but it didn’t work well. So, I decided to post the original dark photograph of the fabrics.
The fabrics I chose for the quilt are Waverly cotton fabric from Walmart. I really like the way the fabric performs for the price, plus they are easy to find and purchase. I purchased the pre cut 1 yard fabrics. I also decided to pick different shades of red, white, and blue. I did this for a quilt I made for a relative and love the way it turned out. After feeling quilt color envy for years, I decided to stop envying my relative and their quilt and chose similar shades for my quilt.
The fabric colors are burgundy for red, off white/taupe design for white, and a navy blue for blue. This makes the quilt look more muted and subtle. They are not the same exact colors I used for my relative’s quilt, but these colors make me happy enough that my envy stopped. Also, the colors will look better with my current home decor.
I will talk about the patterns I’m contemplating using in a different post.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
