Walk Around Main Street in Florence, Arizona- February 17, 2018- Corner of 8th Street and Main

After walking through the walkway between the Kokopelli Saloon and Total Concept Salon, I walked to the corner of 8th Street and Main Street.

On one corner is a building I don’t remember the formal name of, but is commonly referred to as the Murphy’s Romance building/store because of it’s use in the movie Murphy’s Romance…

During the time I took these photographs, the building was occupied by an insurance and paralegal office.

The new owners of the building repainted the old Coca-Cola sign on the brick wall. It was always there, but it faded over time and nobody bothered to repaint it for many years.

On the same side of the street is the True Value Hardware store…

The hardware store used to occupy only one building, but it expanded in the 2000’s to occupy three stores.

Kitty corner of the hardware store is the building known to locals as Gibby’s Bar…

Unfortunately, I have only one photograph that turned out of the building… and it was of the front door. For many years, this building served as the location of Gibby’s Bar. After the bar closed, the building sat empty until it was purchased in the late 2000’s and it became the Blue Adobe, a meeting and gathering location that can be rented for special functions. After some drama connected to the ownership of the building, the Blue Adobe closed and the building sat empty for years until it was purchased and became a gym. As of this post, the gym closed and I’m unsure what the building is used for now.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
