2017 End of Year Summary- Sewing

Hi everyone! The past two days I talked about all the art I created and photographs I took in 2017. Today’s post is about the third and final summary I wanted to talk about, sewing!

When I started 2017, I had plans to remake many of my old costumes that are too large for me to wear after my weight loss along with new clothes. Unfortunately, things did not go as planned.

Even though I lost weight, I had loose skin that caused my clothes to not fit me right. Through out 2017 my dress size shrunk slowly but steadily. Even though it is nice to lose a size, it caused me to rethink my sewing project list and stall working on almost everything on my 2017 to-make list until my body size stabilizes.

Even though I’m very disappointed that I didn’t get to work on anything on my to make list, I did work on a new denim skirt…

And an Elsa skirt…

And there is a third skirt that I made, but I never got around to blog about. 🙂

As for costumes, I only made one costume this year, and Doctor Who inspired Elizabethan costume, but I never finished it. I did finish the costume’s sleeves…

The hat…

And the underskirt for the dress…

As for thoughts about my sewing in 2017, I’m very disappointed in the amount of sewing I did. I had great plans going into the year, but I fell short. Even though I’m disappointed in the amount of sewing I did, I’m happy I was able to finish enough of the Elizabethan Whovian costume that I could pick it back up this year and complete it at last.

As for sewing plans for 2018, I do not have specific sewing plans. Last year I worked on loosing weight (Something I’ve worked on for the past few years) and keeping fit and trim. This forced me to halt most of my sewing plans because my body’s size changed so frequently I wouldn’t fit into anything I sewed a few months after I finished it. This year, I’m not focused on loosing weight, but keeping fit and trim only. I still have a way to go, but I’m happy with my progress. Since I’m still working on keeping fit and trim, I don’t have any plans for sewing for the year because I’m worried I won’t be able to fit into anything I make. I have some ideas on things to sew this year, but I’m not sure when my body’s size will stabilize enough so I could work on them. In the mean time, I plan on finishing the Elizabethan Whovian (Because the gown is design to be flexible sizing) and working on sewing non clothing things, such as throw pillows, and clothing that has flexible sizing. I’m not sure if I’ll be successful in finishing them this year, but at least I’ll be able to continue sewing!

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
