The Space Quilt Progress- Sewing Some of the Blocks
Hi everyone! It’s time for a progress post about the space quilt I made earlier this year! As of this post, I finished the top of the quilt, but have yet to quilt and bind the edges. Because I finished the quilt top, I wanted to talk in hindsight about the progress I made while sewing it.
In this post, I want to focus on talking about the cutting and sewing of the cut fabric squares and rectangles.
After cutting the space quilt fabric into 2 1/2 inch strips, I cut most of the strips into 2 1/2 blocks. The only fabric I cut differently is the NASA fabric. I wanted to cut it into 5 inch rectangles. I wanted more of the NASA fabric design to be seen against the other fabric designs.
Around this time, I started to sew the quilt squares into rectangles…

At this stage, I got a small clue about what all the fabric designs and colors will look like together. I really liked the way they look like a lot.
That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
