The Turquoise and Grey Log Cabin Quilt: Plans for Extra Blocks and Fabric Options for It

Hi everyone! In my previous quilt post, I mentioned I have extra blocks from my turquoise and grey log cabin quilt. In this post, I want to talk about what I plan on doing with them.

I considered a lot of sewing projects using the blocks, but the one I like the most is to make throw pillows or pillow cases. I don’t know what I want them to look like. I just think pillows and pillow cases would be a good way to use the blocks. I also like the idea to use the quilt on my bed and the pillows with them. Or on my sofa, cordinating them with my bedroom quilt. I have three (If I’m remembering correctly) leftover blocks, so I can even have a throw pillow on my bed and on my couch!

The thing is I may need to add some more fabric to the blocks to make them fit certain sized pillows. I considered using either grey or turquoise fabric, but I was also considering yellow.

I don’t know why, but yellow seemed like a better pillow fabric for me. I have a piece of fabric I ordered from Spoonflower I was considering for this fabric.

Here’s what it looks like…

It is by Weavingmajor. Here is what it looks like beside the block…

I was actually looking for a color that would contrast the grey and turquoise colors. It does, but I’m still not sure if I will end up using it though. I also like plain ordinary white fabric for it too. I really need to sit down and plan how to make the pillows before I can say for sure.

That’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
