Weekly Sewing & Life Update- April 19-25, 2020
Although last week I felt meh about staying at home so much, by the time this week I really began to get annoyed by it. Like everyone, I wanted to get out of the house. I wanted to see my friends. I wanted to go shopping without worrying about getting sick. Watching TV got old a few weeks before, but this week I was over it. And I was worried about my job security and worried about how the virus affects my plans to move and my future in general. Basically, this week was a roller coaster of emotions. I was able to do some sewing and almost finished my McCall’s 8029 cape, which did cheer me up a lot.
Sunday, April 19:
Did some sewing on my second attempt on McCall’s 8029. I needed to do a lot of hand sewing on the hem and seams to tack down the edge fabric so it will lay flat. Because of all the hand sewing I need to do, it’s taking a long time to finish my cape. If my thumb problems do not get aggravated by all the hand sewing, I think I will probably finish the second cape before the end of the week. I also decided to work on more sewing projects this week as well as attempt to finish some YouTube videos before the end of the week.
Monday, April 20:
I finished sewing all the hems and seams in my McCall’s 8029 cape. All I need to do is finish off some of the loose threads, record video and photograph the cape, fix a part of the cape I didn’t like the way it looks, record more video and take more photographs of the cape, and it will finally be done!
Tuesday, April 21:
Didn’t do much sewing today. I did record some video for a future sew with me YouTube video, but no sewing. I also decided to add another detail to my McCall’s 8029 cape, so I’m not ready to record and take photos of the finished cape yet. I also decided on my next sewing projects: the Frozen 2 messenger bag and McCall’s M4740. M4740 is a doll dress and I would like to enlarge M4740 to fit a full sized human, but first I would like to make it in doll size first before I make one in human size. Currently debating if I should work on McCall’s 2232 this month and if it should take more priority over fixing my first attempt at M8029.
Wednesday through Friday, April 22- 24:
I did a lot of sewing over the past few days on a variety of sewing projects, but I was so focused on sewing so much I didn’t sit down and write a summary about what I sewed each day. On Friday I went to Walmart for groceries and sewing supplies. I took a photograph of the fabric section, but it looks exactly the same as it did last week so I won’t include the photograph in this post.
Saturday, April 25:
I did do much sewing today, but I did do some work around the house and worked on blog post and videos. Besides watching a lot of YouTube and TV shows, nothing much happened that day.
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
