  • Marvel’s Avengers Rectangle Skirt

    July 18, 2018 /

Hi everyone! A few months ago, I went to the movies to see Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War. I originally wanted to see it on opening weekend, and planned to dress up for fun. Even though I planned on dressing up, I decided not to, mostly because I didn’t have the time to finish any of my Avenger costumes. Instead, I decided to make a skirt to wear with a shirt I bought. After finishing the skirt, I got sick and ended up not seeing the movie until a few weeks after it opened. Even though I was disappointed I couldn’t see it when I wanted to, and already knew what…

Hi everyone! Last year, in my post about making a 1950’s denim skirt, I mentioned that I bought two kinds of denim to make two denim skirts. I used one of the denim I bought to make the 1950’s skirt, but the second skirt took longer to finish.

A few months ago, I bought two kinds of denim fabric in hopes of making two denim skirts for me to wear. I didn’t work on them until late August, but I was able to make them very quickly. The first skirt I made is a light blue colored denim skirt that I made using Simplicity’s pattern number 1166 view B…

A few months ago, I had plans to go to a pop culture convention with some friends of mine. Since I’m loosing weight, the only “geeky” clothes that fit me was a few t-shirts and my Tardis jumper skirt. I had some time at that time, so I began working on new skirts and costumes I could make and finish in time to wear to the convention. Unfortunately, the convention plans ended up falling through and in my disappointment, I set everything I sewed to wear to the convention aside. This week, I began to drag all my unfinished projects I worked on for the convention out so I could…

  • Anna’s Coronation Dress- Finishing the Skirt

    March 22, 2016 /

After what feels like forever, I can now finally make the last post about the skirt for Anna’s coronation dress! You can read my other posts about the skirt here and here. I’m not going to lie, I’m very happy this skirt is done. I was getting very tired of working on it and seeing it around my house. Now that it’s done, I can work on long list of to-sew projects that keeps growing every week. (Most of them are repairs or adjustments to clothes so you won’t see them here on my blog. Especially since they are uninteresting and boring. 😉 )

    January 20, 2015 /

Lately I’ve been sewing costumes for this year’s Arizona Renaissance Festival. All the costumes I’m working on are complex and/or detailed and, although everything looks good and is coming together well, I became dishearten about the speed I was working on them. I thought it would be a good self esteem booster to make a simple sewing project and show myself that I can sew fast, sew very well, and the only reason why it takes me so long to make the costumes is because they are just that complex and has nothing to do with my sewing abilities. Back in December, I found a reprint of a 1940’s Simplicity…

  • 2014 Costume and Sewing Round Up

    December 29, 2014 /

Even though I always wanted make a costume and sewing round up post, I never made one before. I decided this year to change it! I also decided to do a round up post for my art and photography, but those are coming soon. This year I didn’t get the chance to wear many of the costumes I made. Usually what happened is whenever the event I was going to dress up for came, I got sick (Arizona Renaissance Festival) or I got hurt and didn’t feel like dressing up. (Phoenix Comicon) Fortunately, some of the costumes looked like regular clothes so I was able to wear pieces of them…

    October 16, 2014 /

Since I’m remaking the Rose Tyler Idiot’s Lantern dress, I thought it would be nice to make a new underskirt to go with the new dress. The old underskirt is fine and still usable, but my sewing skills have improved since then and after finding new information about the underskirt used for the dressed used in the episode, I decided to remake it. The original underskirt wasn’t something I’m very proud of when I made it. It was made the night before the convention I was supposed to wear it to so it really wasn’t the best sewing I ever did and I knew it. But I needed an underskirt…
