  • McCall’s M8213 Dress Finished- What The Dress Looks Like and What I Think of The Pattern

    March 14, 2024 /

Hi everyone! Last year, in a post about my sewing plans for the season, I talked about making a dress using McCall’s pattern M8213. That was the last time I talked about it on this blog. Since the publishing of the post, I made the dress! I didn’t want to take

  • Favorite Prom Dress Sewing Patterns for 2022- McCall’s Part 2

    February 3, 2022 /

Well, today is the final post about my favorite prom dress sewing patterns for 2022! I found so many McCall’s patterns I think could work as sewing patterns for prom dresses I decided to slip the patterns into two posts. This is part two. You can read part one here. As with the previous McCall’s pattern post, I wanted to mention that I didn’t choose patterns from the Spring 2022 collection. When I created this list, the collection was unavailable, so I couldn’t include the patterns in this post.

    February 1, 2022 /

For the past few posts, I talked about the sewing patterns I think will make great prom dresses. There is one pattern company I have yet to talk about: McCall’s. When I searched McCall’s website for sewing patterns, I found more dress patterns than for any other company. Since I have so many patterns to talk about, I decided to split the patterns into two posts. Also, all the patterns I will be talking about do not include Spring 2022 pattern releases. When I wrote this post, the spring pattern collection was not available at that time. So, I included the patterns from previous collections.

  • My Hilary Duff x McCall’s Sewing Pattern Collection- 2021

    May 4, 2021 /

Recently, I’ve been struggling to come up with blog post ideas for this blog. Since this is my sewing, art, and photography blog, I don’t like to write a post unless I have something creative to share. Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to be very creative lately. Due to this, all I have to talk about are my plans for sewing and craft projects. Since I’m struggling to come up with ideas on what to write about, I decided to write a post about something I’m passionate, and proud, of that involves sewing, art, photography, and crafts. Last year, I decided to start purchasing vintage and out of print sewing…

    April 29, 2021 /

Hi everyone! Due to circumstances beyond my control, I’m having problems working on my sewing projects. I had plans to work on and finish at least three sewing projects this month, but I still have yet to work on them. None the less, I decided to switch my attention to other sewing projects that create things I know I will like to make in the coming months. One of the things I will need are coats. I already own coats, but after years of making due with the ill fitting coats I purchased, I decided to make my own. I already have plans to make two coats, but they are…

  • Favorite McCall’s Patterns- Summer 2020

    September 9, 2020 /

Hi everyone! Although McCall’s released their fall patterns, I still have yet to share my favorite patterns released in summer 2020. The summer pattern releases included many original McCall’s designs with official names and hashtags to use if someone makes the pattern and posts a picture of it on social media, as well as patterns from two designers, Nicole Miller and Melissa Watson for Palmer/Pletsch. The Nicole Miller and Meissa Watson patterns do not have official names or hashtags like the patterns designed by McCall’s. Although I still felt disheartened by McCall’s rebranding, I liked a lot of sewing patterns from the summer collection. Here are my favorites…

  • Favorite McCall’s Patterns- Spring 2020

    September 2, 2020 /

Hi everyone! Although it’s closer to fall than spring, I never talked about my favorite spring 2020 sewing pattern releases from McCall’s. McCall’s spring 2020 pattern releases are the first patterns that feature the rebranded logo and other rebranded elements to it. This was also the pattern release that named each design and encouraged sewers to use a hashtag if they make the pattern and post a photograph on social media. Although I’m very critical of the McCall’s Pattern Company’s rebranding, I did fall in love with the designs of the sewing patterns from their spring 2020 releases. Here are my favorites…

  • New McCall’s Costume Sewing Patterns for Spring/Summer 2020

    August 26, 2020 /

Hi everyone! After talking about the new costume sewing patterns from McCall’s patterns, I wanted to talk about the costume patterns that were new for the Spring and Summer 2020. I didn’t talk about them earlier because I didn’t have the time to write a post. Now that I have some time, I decided to sit down and write one all about the sewing patterns I missed talking about. There are two Angela Clayton designed patterns, two Nancy Farris-Theé designed patterns, and four Yaya Han designed patterns.

    August 20, 2020 /

Hi everyone! After my last sewing pattern themed post about the new rebranding of The McCall Pattern Company, I wanted to talk about something less investigative: McCall’s has new costume patterns. This collection of sewing patterns include two new Angela Clayton designed patterns, original McCall’s designed patterns, and patterns that are reprints of Butterick patterns. I believe the reprint patterns from Butterick’s line of costumes are part of the rebranding of The McCall Pattern Company and the shifting of patterns between brands. It’s confusing to see the patterns get shifted around, so I wanted to write a post pointing out which patterns are from Butterick and which ones are not.…

  • Thoughts on McCall’s M7965- Potential Fit Issues, Underthings, & More

    September 6, 2019 /

Hi everyone! It’s been way too long since I talked about sewing anything. I talked about my sewing break in my post here, but since that post the only thing I had time to make was a scarf I’m knitting. It makes me annoyed that I don’t have anything sewing related to talk about so I wanted to fix that by talking about a pattern I’m debating on making: McCall’s M7965. I want to make it for a YouTube video, but I’m unsure if I’ll have the time to make it and record at the same time. Because of this, I wanted to talk about this pattern and my thoughts…
