Self Portrait Sketches- Spring 2021

In the fall of 2019, I decided to do a series of new sketches of myself to use as profile pictures. At that time, I cut a lot of my hair off due to damage from a long term illness I suffered from. Back then, I thought I would have enough time to focus on drawing again. Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to sit down and draw until this spring. Since so much time has passed, my hair has grown long enough that there isn’t a huge difference between my hair’s length today and back then. Because of this, I didn’t need to draw a new profile picture, but, after looking at my current profile picture, I decided it is time to change my profile picture. Even if it means it looks almost the same as my old profile picture.

I wanted a variety of pictures to post on different social media sites. Because of this, I decided to drawing the same exact dress as I drew myself wearing in my original profile picture sketch. I wanted my sketches to look similar to a portrait painting from the Edwardian, Victorian, Georgian, and Elizabethan eras while still looking contemporary. Since I had so many ideas, I drew several sketches of myself so I can choose my favorite and save the others until I need them.

Unfortunately, I drew two sketches I liked and would like to post on the internet.

Here is the first sketch I did of myself…

And here is the second sketch I did of myself…

I really like both sketches, but I’m not sure where I’ll use them. I don’t plan on coloring them because I like them to remain in a sketch form instead of a full colored illustration. I might color them in the future, or draw a sketch I would like to color, in the future, but right now I want to keep them in their sketchy form.

Also, I plan on talking about the dress in a future post. I keep drawing myself wearing the same dress in every sketch and I used to receive questions about it. I would like to talk about it, what it actually is supposed to look like, the color of it, and other interesting facts someone may wonder about.

Well, that’s all for now! Thank you for reading!
